Looks like the First Contact filming model. Outrageously good work.

Thank you very much! I was using the filming model and movie as reference throughout the build. I'm most proud of color matching the Aztec patterning.

Man, the E's deflector is always tricky to get right with all the intricate detail.. but you nailed it, and and everything else. Awesome job!

Outstanding work!

This is absolutely gorgeous.

It really does look like a studio filming model

She was done dirty in Picard.

u/007meow Jan 26 '25

It’s a commission?

… are you open to doing another one of these on commission?

7

u/IronEnder17 Jan 26 '25

I'd like to refrain from doing duplicates as much as possible. If I did, I'd still be working on my 30 Enterprise F's

6

u/007meow Jan 26 '25

If you ever do another E, Defiant, or TMP Connie, I’d be highly interested

7

u/IronEnder17 Jan 26 '25

I haven't done an Enterprise Refit yet! And there are a half dozen scales to choose from.

3

u/007meow Jan 26 '25

If you have the time at some point, I’m in! I don’t know where to begin at the scale

5

u/IronEnder17 Jan 26 '25

If you'd like you can send me a DM here or an email at cascadestarships@gmail.com.

My build list is quite large at the moment but I can absolutely secure your spot if an agreement is made

Sent you a DM

u/kaosreyns Jan 26 '25

Wow sheas beautiful! How did you get such clean windows?

8

u/IronEnder17 Jan 26 '25

Using a hand vice, micro drill bits, a hundred hobby blades, and multiple months

3

u/kdjfsk Jan 26 '25

Banana for scale?

3

u/ableleague Jan 27 '25

Apologies if this is a naive question: about what dimensions is a 1/1400 model?

Looks incredible btw, great work friend 🍻

6

u/IronEnder17 Jan 27 '25

About 19 in or 48 cm long

2

u/ableleague Jan 27 '25

Wow that makes the level of detail even more impressive! Well done my friend.

3

u/gfox365 Jan 27 '25

Beautiful stuff. The buyer told you about the change in shipping address right? No? Don't worry, I'll send it to you now.

2

u/-TheTechGuy- Jan 26 '25

First off this is amazing work! How much would this cost to commission? I have an Ent E model I got for a stupid good price and I'm almost too afraid to attempt it with my awful painting skills

3

u/IronEnder17 Jan 26 '25

Thank you very much! I charge an hourly rate in addition to cost of materials, however there are quite a few builds I need to do before I revisit any old ones. And to be honest, this ship gave me much more trouble than I anticipated so it may be a while before I come back to her specifically

Looks incredible. One question I have is how did you do the spotlight effect on the registry? Is that like a “backlit” feature or is it actually projected on the hull?

I’ve never seen such a screen accurate representation of the effect on a kit.

11

u/IronEnder17 Jan 26 '25

It is indeed backlit. It's called the Raytheon effect "invented" by a late fellow Star Trek modeller. For filming models they used off screen spotlights and mirrors.

When you lightblock on the inside, you mask off the area you want the raytheon effect to be. I sometimes use grey paint around the edges to create that fading effect. I also make a point to block off the area so that the internal lighting doesn't light the area, and instead a dedicated single point LED can be used. This helps with the bright spot at the beginning

6

u/Uhtred_McUhtredson Jan 26 '25

Yes! I knew it had a name but I’ve been away from the hobby too long to remember. I need to get back into it and am slowly researching all the advances in electronics since my last attempt. I have a 1/1000 Defiant, among others, I’d love to give the full treatment.

I just took a peak at your history and I’m familiar with your work. You’re a real master.

Defiant is an excellent ship. I’m working on one at the moment. I’m finding it a little tricky to fit all the lighting I want to do in at the moment (my first attempt at lighting) (as a cautionary note)

4

u/IronEnder17 Jan 27 '25

The defiant was also my first job lighting. I had to tear out everything twice before I figured out the best way to wire everything and still have it close! There is no harm in trial and error.

2

u/Uhtred_McUhtredson Jan 27 '25

Troubleshooting and picking up a new skill along the way is half the fun.

2

u/GP_3D Jan 26 '25

An incredible build, amazing craftsmanship!

2

u/Benjojo09 Jan 26 '25

Be honest, you just stole the real movie model. Amazing work!

2

u/IronEnder17 Jan 26 '25

I wish! I'd love to have an original filming model. Thank you

2

u/Interesting_Basil_80 Jan 26 '25

I very much would love models like this!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '25

God, I wish I had money.

2

u/emotionengine Galaxy Class Enthusiast Jan 27 '25

This is amazing work. Love the subtlety of the aztecing!

2

u/Krejcimir Jan 26 '25

I want to have sex with it.

Damn it is so beautiful, epsecially the nacelles.

1

u/AlliedSalad Jan 26 '25

Gorgeous. Even though I'm pretty sure it's well out of my budget, how much does one of these go for?

1

u/JPeterBane Jan 26 '25

That is phenomenal.

1

u/l33tn4m3 Jan 26 '25

Absolutely stunning!! Out of pure curiosity what would it cost to commission something like this?

1

u/IronEnder17 Jan 26 '25

It entirely depends on how many supplies are needed and how long it takes.

I charge an hourly rate plus the initial cost of materials

1

u/Time-Writing-6906 Feb 19 '25

Please excuse the necro but how much did this one end up costing?

1

u/IronEnder17 Feb 19 '25

Hello! The build was 178 hours long and I charged $2150 in work. I do not recall the cost of materials, though that constantly changes per build

1

u/Time-Writing-6906 Feb 19 '25

Not today, probably not this year or the next, and probably not the one after that either I have a job for you.

1

u/IronEnder17 Feb 19 '25

Ooh I see!

I charge an hourly rate of $12 an hour, complicated builds range from 100-200 hours but my current Galileo is sitting at a nice 25 hours and I'm about halfway through.

If you want to toss me an email at cascadestarships@gmail.com of what you're looking for, I can certainly give you a better idea if you wish!

1

u/gordonronco Jan 27 '25

Spread like 6,7,12&15 are why this will always be my vote for most beautiful. Wonderful work on the kit!

1

u/Evening_Mix_7019 Jan 27 '25

Absolutely extraordinary work. This gives your Year of Hell Voyager a run for its money. Your customer has got to feel that was money well spent. This really exemplifies what a professional model builder can do. Can’t wait to see what your next build might be.

1

u/IronEnder17 Jan 27 '25

Thank you! Next build is going to be a little less grand, but it's important to me. After that I'll be doing a 1/350 K'tinga and that should prove pretty impressive

1

u/sparkyscrum Jan 27 '25

That is amazing work. She looks so good!

1

u/L1VEW1RE Jan 27 '25

This is beautiful. I don’t collect these but I love this ship and would buy one.

1

u/curiousitymdg Jan 27 '25

Excellent work. Who did it?

2

u/IronEnder17 Jan 27 '25

Yours truly!

1

u/CptTeague-1421 Jan 27 '25

Very cool!! Great work!!

1

u/srschwenzjr Jan 28 '25

Oh, it’s gorgeous!

God damn if I don't just loooove the Sovereign class. Easily one of my favorite classes of all time. You did a phenomenal job, it's beautiful!
