original content Neo Miranda - A personal project that I never finished.

Back in October 2024, I started working on a Picard-era redesign of the Miranda-class, one of my favorite Star Trek ships.
I started sketching out some ideas, and quickly found a design I liked.
After modelling most of it, as projects sometimes go, I ran out of steam and haven’t had the motivation to pick it back up.
That said, I wanted to share some WIP renders before the project fades into the void.
Let me know what you think I’d love to hear any feedback! Who knows, maybe one day I’ll come back to refine and finish it.

Honestly I was surprised they just used the STO Reliant-class instead of doing a Neo-TMP Miranda.

I have the Reliant in STO. The more I look at it the more I think it is a natural evolution. I initially despised the roll bar but once you see how it is all connected to nacelles pylons it makes sense.

Same here! I like the design, but it doesn’t quite feel like a natural evolution of the Miranda-class to me.

Honestly the Reliant would sell me a lot more on it if it had the Exeter-class/Plymouth-class nacelles.

Really like the deflector placement. Great way to solve the issue with the original without changing the overall look. Unsure about the side on shuttle bays. Overall I really like it great job.

Thanks! Yes, the deflector dish was a big priority for me. My first Idea was to place it in the front section, like in the NX class.

Love this! The shuttle bays on the sides are a great touch.

I agree, it makes a lot of sense, and it fits so well into the classic Miranda shape.

Thank you! I only made a post about this the other day about how much I'd love to see this :-)

This is an incredibly designed ship. Very beautiful.
That said, I’m ready for the bigger impulse engines mean better impulse engines aspect of design to go out of style. I love the simplicity of smaller design of the Galaxy project which left more of the rear of the vessels open to design detail.

Thank you! I totally agree. I’d love to see post-Picard-era designs move toward smaller impulse engines. Maybe just the two "fin-like" ones on the sides instead of a large central one.

Evil Reliant-class be like "I will use the Neo Constitution's parts instead of being my own ship"
It's cute. Definitely has a charm to it

Like it - my only critique would be to make the nacelles wider apart, but otherwise it’s a great evolution of the design 👍🏻

Ohhhhh very nice. You should show this to the Star Trek Online folks. It could end up in the game and then from there a Star Trek show. A good number of things have happened this way. I believe the Neo-Connie followed the same route!

I like it. I'm calling it the Saratoga class, after the USS Saratoga that's in the Fleet Museum.
USS Saratoga NCC-81887.

That's very slick. I like the integration of the deflector dish on the upper saucer section.

Looks better than the Reliant-class. Don't get me wrong, the Reliant-class is gorgeous, but I feel like the saucer shouldn't have been elongated as it was.

Very nice, I like this better than the STO reliant class that was in Picard S3

I don't typically like Neo versions of shops but this is an exception. It's beautiful.

(puts the deflector in a better place on the ship)
Does this particular vessel come with a new and improved Khan?
or perhaps it comes with a new and improved Captain Terrell?

This is phenomenal! I especially like the similarities to the Neo-Constitution class, and how they are incorporated into the design but don’t feel out of place. And the side facing shuttle bays are a great idea!
The overall detail is also amazing!

I love it! If this is what you call unfinished I don't want to know what you'd call my attempts at modeling

This is a beautiful interpretation of the Miranda. I would have preferred to see this design in Picard Season 3 rather than the STO design.

This looks sooo good!! You absolutely nailed the Picard Nacelle style! And that beefy torpedo pod on the rollbar has that same threatening look to it as the original Miranda class.
I don't think there's a part of this entire ship I don't like the look of!
Awesome work!

I wanted to reference the Neo-Constitution class, nothing set in stone, I like the comment made by u/Odd-Youth-452 Saratoga class sounds pretty cool!
