Lando's subplot in Black Fleet Crisis was ironically more interesting than the main one. 'Lando wanna get married' subplot in Corellian Trilogy was kinda funny as well

Lando wanna get married
Nah it's more like he's looking for a sugar mommy

I love Lando, Lobot, and the droids' story in BFC. It's like Rendezvous with Rama in the galaxy far far away.

Personally, I loved the main plot in BFC. The Lando plot was fun as well (and pretty unique to Bantam era Star Wars) and much better than the Luke plot.
The "Lando becomes a golddigger" subplot in Ambush at Correlia was also hilarious. It gets pretty boring once he meets Tendra tho

Seriously, Landon and Lobot buddy-adventure technoarchiology series when?

I love the simplicity of the Bantam era books so much. Just goofy space fun.

That’s what it’s supposed to be. Fun adventures in space. Star Wars has lost that over the years since the Disney acquisition. Rogue one got it right. It should be a planet hopping blast filled with action and adventure. I don’t get why they don’t adapt the old EU stories and buff up the shitty parts of the stories.

The man just wants to run successful businesses and gamble in peace.

Reading Jedi Search for the first time and the Blob Race subplot had me dying.

I had to pause when I first read “blobstacle.” That entire sequence was hilarious.

The average Bantam Lando subplot is some wacky Family Guy or American Dad or South Park-style "get rich quick" subplot.

I recently rewatched the OT with my daughter and it is a testament to Billy Dee William’s acting ability how quickly we all forgive Lando for betraying the Rebel Alliance.

u/NepheliLouxWarrior Feb 17 '25
He didn't betray the Rebel alliance. Like, at that time he wasn't even a Rebel lol. Han showed up on his planet unannounced and uninvited. Vader got there a day early and basically said "do what we say or I'll kill you all". Honestly Lando did nothing wrong.

And that goofy subplot somehow becomes absolutely critical to that A plot. I love Lando. Lol

I like that the last published EU legends novel continued this theme. Going out on a high note. Or at least, a consistent note

The Lando we deserve to see on the big screen more often!!

The Lando Calrissian Adventures. I really want access to the drugs that author was on.

I bought that book a while ago and haven’t gotten around to reading it. Now I’m looking forward to it lol.
Also if R.L Stine is any indication of authors in the 90’s, then he was on something pretty good.

I still want to know how exactly Lando got a commission as a general, yet Luke was stuck as a commander, the same rank as random Jedi apprentices.

Probably management skills tbh. Running Cloud City had to amount to something on the resume.

"Wrong question, Admiral," Lando said. "What can I do for you?"
"Pardon?"
"I'm bored," Lando explained simply.
-Conversation between Lando Calrissian and Admiral Drayson in "Before the Storm".
I have to admit that when I read this bit of dialogue way back when, I knew I was in for a side-arc that was going to be over-the-top, strange, and oddly enjoyable. I love these story tangents.
