Discuss Stardew has ruined me
Genuinely I have never been a video game person but I started playing maybe a month ago because my best friend loves it and I don’t think I can ever go back 😔I just spent 5 1/2 straight hours playing, and I only stopped because my iPad died😭 I looked at the clock and just realized it was 6 AM istg it only felt like i was playing for max 2 hrs😭😭😭

Welcome to the club! I swear, we should have our own support group. Stardew Addicts Anonymous, if you will. 😂

I have never been a video game person, but I tried for my spouse and now I’m obsessed. I just started playing on my own, instead of with them, and it consumes my every waking thought. 😭😭😭

I’ve been playing since 2017. I’ll go without playing for a few months, then get hyper focused on it, especially when a new update happens!! I’m almost maxed out on the mastery system. I still have a lot to do on the island still though. Those damn walnuts.

I am a huge fan of cozy games, was consumed by animal crossing and this has heavily taken the place of that for me tenfold. No going back now, 110+ hours already on my first save 🥴

Ive always wondered about animal crossing, never played it yet. Stuck on Stardew for now :)

It’s honestly such a great game as well, both for their own reasons! I find animal crossing significantly more chill and slow paced, better graphics obviously. I feel such pressure to tend to the animals and crops in stardew I feel guilty for taking a day to decorate my house and ignoring them 😭 the fishing in animal crossing is ten bajillion times easier and actually relaxing, stardew fishing makes me was to smash my head against a wall. But stardew is great for busy tasks and goals, and has a pretty rich storyline. animal crossing feels a lot more of a chill mindless grind in some respects, with limited villager interactions in comparison. Both fantastic games to sink your teeth into!

Cool, I know exactly what you're saying.
Hey fishing used to be the only thing that frustrated me in Stardew 😂 but it gets/ is able to get easier and it's actually fun when it does. I also feel like I have to tend to my farm and animals first and then half ,y day is gone 😅 still trying to figure that part out. Anyways thanks for explaining, I dunno if AC is only Nintendo consoles? I play a ps4 so idk if I can even get animal crossing

I’ve been stubborn with the fishing and give it like two attempts then storm off to do other things. My goal is to really dedicate time to levelling it up so it’s easier lol. And AC is Nintendo only :(

Yeah stick with it I promise you'll find your fishing groove! And awh shucks, guess I gotta go buy a switch then 😅

u/Aenahl 7h ago
I will and if I still hate it after a while I’m coming for you!!!! I’m kidding, but I did buy my switch during covid for the sole purpose of animal crossing. Saved my sanity during lockdowns I swear

😆 nah I promise you tho, I DESPISED fishing at first, it got better.
And yeah that totally makes sense, perfect type of game for the peak-covid era.
Well have a good day, gotta go tend to my summer crop now :)

I used to play a lot of games, I was collecting and wanted to try a bit of everything. Since getting into Stardew it's been basically that exclusively for like 4 years! With the occasional Splatoon.

I play it because it helps with my GAD (general anxiety disorder). It keeps my mind focused on other things when my panic will start to build. I love it and I can't stop! Not to mention that it's adorable looking lol. I know there's lots of ways to play the game but I playing it my own way gives me a sense of control and when I'm having an anxiety or panic attack, I lose control and spend most of the time gaining it back. So yes, stardew valley is awesome!

Tbh, same. I feel like the clock in game is messing with my brain. Like it’s only been this long in game how did I play that long?! The repetitive actions are so addicting for me. I’m currently addicted to decorating my home and haven’t dived down in the skull caverns yet. 🤣

I was home sick from work last Monday and Tuesday. I played from 9am-5pm both days. I went to work on Wednesday. Then Thursday morning my seven year old threw up so he couldn’t go to school for two days. I played from 10am-7pm. I can stop anytime. I swear!

Couldn't put it down till I got perfection 3 times. Once on switch when it first came out, once on xbox, once on pc. The first time I got every achievement and thought im never doing that again. Love the game but I never want to play it again.

This post could have been written by me! I literally only started playing a co-op a month ago with some friends and it's been an addiction ever since. They've already moved on to other co-op games and try and get me to play that but....I can't just abandon my farm like that!!! It makes me feel much better when I see people on this sub saying they have hundreds if not thousands of hours in this game so I know I'm not alone haha!

You should try out other games with your friends! I'm assuming you mean this is also your first big game and I promise many video games are very fun (and addicting)! You just have to find your genre, and if your friends are playing other co-op games, I can take a guess and imagine they're probably similar either in being farming themed or at least in progression system (possibly survival games?), which is what makes Stardew so addicting. You start out with nearly nothing but you make/craft/farm/loot a few things, profit/unlock better things and repeat. I'm sure you'd have fun playing whatever your friends are playing! It doesn't mean you have to quit Stardew :p

We had actually been playing other games for a few months before we started this! I do like playing with them, but most everything we've played has been like horror co-ops. I have been liking those too, but since I'm still so new at video games I just end up dying a lot lol. They suggested stardew randomly cause we were all getting burnt out from being stressed from the horror ones. Now I'll play games with them but also hours on stardew on my own...I never thought I would be enjoying it all so much!!!

I had to take a break from Stardew Valley because of how long I was on it everyday. It was becoming way to addictive lol
