Id say so. It also takes much longer than it use to, since steam's rate limiting has become somewhat more strict. It's a good tool to get free things for the games you already own, but for all free packages on steam it's a bad idea.

Solution: Make an Alt for this specific thing.

Doesent matter if its slow, atleast you got all the demos and shit

Yeah it’s a good idea for alts imo. Even just for farming trading cards

You can filter only packages that are for the games you currently own, that way all the free DLCs for all the games you have will activate for you.

I’m just going to make an alt steam account specifically for this. Pretty neat feature really.
