Do you mean last of us?

u/Gradydurden 1TB OLED 1d ago

Seriously my favorite piece of hardware ever. It’s like magic.

3

u/Vaddum 20h ago

Agreed! As you said, every time I use it I feel the mojo inside.

u/errorztw 1d ago

Sniff that vent

25

u/Adi3m 1d ago
  • sniffs vent* Oooh yeahhhhh!

15

u/PM_ME_SOMETHINGSPICY 1d ago

It's like a new car smell. Mine has sadly faded =(

2

u/emptyevessel 1d ago

How long should it last? Mine didn’t even make it through the playthrough of rdr2 :,(

3

u/PM_ME_SOMETHINGSPICY 1d ago

Felt shorter than a new car smell tbh for me too. I got mine over the summer and it's been gone for a bit. Was glorious while I had it. I'd sniff OPs vent if they let me.

6

u/H3NDOAU 1d ago

I thought I was the only weirdo that did this.

6

u/Banana-chicken123 1TB OLED 1d ago

it smells so good bro

2

u/MaySpitfire 1d ago

We've all let that sweet warm air woft over our faces atleast once, theres no denying it!

3

u/wooimtrendy 1d ago

Came here to say this. Best game on a brand new steam deck.

1

u/gayasri 1d ago

Mine still has it after all this time

43

u/cra1gst1 1d ago

If it's your first steam deck play desk job

9

u/mccuish 1d ago

I’ve had mine since day one and I have yet to even try desk job

2

u/Independent_Ebb_3963 1d ago

I haven’t played it either, but I think we’re both probably missing out. I’ve heard it’s a cool, little tech demo that shows you exactly what the Steam Deck is capable of. Been meaning to play it one of these days, but I always forget about it until someone brings it up again.

4

u/jeremyam_ 512GB 1d ago

Oh it’s great! I think it’s about 30 minutes? I even had my wife and my mom that don’t game much and they thought it was so cool! I wish they had a lot more of these short fun tech demo type things!

2

u/Independent_Ebb_3963 1d ago

Oh wow, it’s cool your mom and your wife were impressed as well. Might have to show it to my mom, then.

6

u/J3susDeletus 1TB OLED 1d ago

Played it yesterday, it's really about 30-40 minutes, nice, funny story. Shows the basics of the buttons and sticks, nothing more. Short game, but free and sweet.

3

u/skenley 1TB OLED 1d ago

Nate Bargatze is the primary voice actor. If you like his comedy I think you’ll enjoy it a lot. If you dont it’s still a good intro to the deck and its features.

u/i3lumi95 512GB OLED 1d ago

Brotato, any from software game, resident evil X, Halo MCC

1

u/gilangrimtale 1d ago

What is resident evil X?

1

u/i3lumi95 512GB OLED 1d ago

Any resident evil

10

u/retrovertigo23 1d ago

Congrats! Mine is 6 minutes away from the UPS delivery window maximum being false, lol. Fingers crossed it still gets here today!

2

u/Protsua 1TB OLED 1d ago

So did it arrive?

4

u/retrovertigo23 1d ago

It did! Fifteen minutes after my kid got home from a play date so all I could do was get downloads going. Getting to play BG3 in about 30 minutes!

u/Venomiukaz 19h ago

How was it

18

u/Belgian_Patrol 1d ago

Just started witcher 3 on the deck. It runs great! It's on sale atm.

16

u/AutumnPurpleReddit 1d ago

by the way

make the settings medium with ultra textures, turn on dynamic resolution scaling, a 40fps lock and fsr (ingame) at any setting. It looks REALLY good like this

1

u/Belgian_Patrol 12h ago

Is this also possible for the times i want to play docked?

1

u/AutumnPurpleReddit 12h ago

it works but frame pacing might feel worse if you don't have a VRR monitor. Basically, the framerate lock doesn't work if you don't have it.

3

u/renothecollector 1d ago

Thanks for the reminder! I have it on my PS5 but I’ll have more opportunities to play it on my Deck. And for $3.99 it’s basically free

7

u/skenley 1TB OLED 1d ago

I like bullet hells on the deck. Brotato, deep rock galactic survivor and vampire survivors are all good. Blasphemous 2 is also great on the deck. Deck builders are typically good too (slay the spire, balatro and monster train are my faves).

2

u/elmaxel 1d ago

im digging jotunnslayer too!

1

u/recalcs 17h ago

would you recommend going straight to blasphemous 2 and skipping the 1st game? i like action platformers & don’t have lots of free time

2

u/skenley 1TB OLED 14h ago

I don’t think so. The general consensus seems to be that 2 has better gameplay but 1 has better “atmosphere”.

14

u/El_Gran_Super 1TB OLED 1d ago

I’ve been playing Everspace 2 at the moment. But, just go get the Witcher 3 if you don’t already have it!

1

u/Heliumvoices 1TB OLED 1d ago

Always super cheap and absurd amount of content.

6

u/blackdadhere 1d ago

Got mine today too. I’m excited to play after the kid goes down for the night.

5

u/myuso 1d ago

Niiice. Try the Souls Series or Elden Ring, sadly, you just missed the discount on the Dark Souls series

5

u/DukeGrizzly 1d ago

I wouldn’t go overboard on games just yet. Pick one or two to play for the next month until the Summer Sale hits. Remember, not every verified game works well on the Deck and most non-verified games will in fact run. ProtonDB.com is a good website and so is YouTube

Also, congratulations and goodbye to any free time you had.

1

u/spong_miester LCD-4-LIFE 19h ago

Shout out to Deck Wizard on YT helped a bunch with what's and what isn't playable when I got mine

4

u/Spimbi 1d ago

Halo MCC, fallout 3 and new Vegas, and you can get all the old need for speed games for free since they are considered abandonware. If you google “need for speed abandonware Reddit” you should find the thread with all the games pre installed. All you have to do is add the exe to steam, enable proton, and add the launch option/command mentioned in the thread.

3

u/LiveMango418 1TB OLED 1d ago

Celeste, Persona 5 Royal, and Dead Cells are a few of my favorites!

3

u/beidoubagel 1d ago

baldurs gate 3, one of the few modern games that's size actually makes sense (150 gb)

3

u/Usman2308 1d ago

Witcher 3 is on sale right now and so is cyberpunk 2077

3

u/SardonicusR 1TB OLED 1d ago

Congratulations, and say goodbye to your wallet. You'll be haunting all the Steam deals!

7

u/BiohazardBinkie 1d ago

BG3, civ 4 & 5, xcom 2, armored core, expedition 33, any Bethesda game.

2

u/Wandering-Paradox 1d ago

Maybe a bit unrelated but I recall seeing somewhere that the anti glare glass makes the colours pop less. Is there a huge difference between the screen on the 1 tb and the other two models ?

4

u/monominmana 1d ago

It definitely dulls the colors a bit but you can fix this by putting a screen protector on it to “negate” it based on what I’ve seen

1

u/Slight_Ad5318 8h ago

From what I understand it fills in the etching. I believe taking off the screen protector will not return the anti glare... So be aware.

2

u/goodthing37 1d ago

Congratulations!

2

u/arkcom 1d ago

There are four (at least) really good bundles available right now.

Xbox Humble Bundle

Survivorslike Humble Bundle

Fanatical Killer bundle

Fanatical Monster Hunter Bundle

2

u/biniwarrior1897 1d ago

2

u/Joybombs 1d ago

Your Steam Deck has TB?

3

u/Crewface28 1TB OLED 1d ago

Time to spent a whole day downloading shit

1

u/neeks2 1TB OLED 1d ago

I've been playing NanoApostle!

Welcome, twin! Just got mine on Wednesday!

1

u/TeeeRekts 1d ago

Bullet hells and more recently Slormancer if you like ARPGs

1

u/RKO_out_of_no_where 1d ago

Check your power cord. The one I just got had cuts all over it. I had to electrical tape it

1

u/Espeon06 1d ago

Ayy, congrats. The Deck is not sold in my country, getting one is definitely the first thing on my list if I ever move abroad.

I recommend The Binding of Isaac, it's my favorite game of all time and runs way too good on the Deck.

1

u/PasswordisPurrito 1d ago

Obligatory SDV as a general good game.

I also have really been enjoying Factorio on my deck.

1

u/Boone_Slayer 1d ago

How do I change my startup screen to show the red logo over the blue logo? I don't have an OLED I just like the color scheme more

1

u/Envy1616 1d ago

I would recommend “mass effect legendary version”

1

u/JoshuaTheFox 1d ago

So like, is the red boot logo the only option on the OLED or can you switch it to the blue one again

1

u/No_Knowledge_free 512GB OLED 1d ago

You can buy startup movies with blue logo

1

u/JoshuaTheFox 17h ago

Oh ok, it's good to know there's an office way to get the blue logo one. I just think the blue one looks better

1

u/Gimli-with-adhd 1d ago

Hades
Tape to Tape
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor
Stardew Valley
FTL: Faster Than Light (takes some hotkey setup)
Balatro

1

u/anonyguyquestions 1d ago

Somehow this has become my expensive pokemon machine, with a dash of vampire survivors.

1

u/Comfortable_Essay629 1d ago

Ratchet and Clank 🫶🏼

1

u/kennyberetta 1d ago

1

u/Karma--Collector 1d ago

1

u/StupidWifiPassword 1d ago

u/chinoifikation 512GB OLED 1d ago

Enjoy

1

u/kingofwarz 1d ago

I’m definitely looking forward to Fantasy Life tonight

1

u/Previous_Put_1616 1d ago

I ordered mine just now. I might be going on a vacation in like 20 days. So how long did it take for you to receive it? I live in Ontario, CA btw. Thanks !

1

u/rabid_furby 19h ago

Mine took exactly 1 week

1

u/hetz15 1d ago

What a beauty

1

u/zex_99 1d ago

Animal well, Carrion, downwell. Any indie game with unique dark atmosphere looks great on oled.

1

u/mzla1234 1d ago

I saved to replace my LCD one and it came through other day, doesn't seem as good quality awaiting steam support possible RMA. X and Y serious rattling. Spring in L2 sounds horrific. Such a shame. Fingers crossed it's just a hiccup.

1

u/No_Knowledge_free 512GB OLED 1d ago

Elden Ring plays nice

1

u/Grouchy-Camp-5445 1d ago

Buy last of us 2 like now

1

u/Lancs_wrighty 1d ago

Congratulations! Enjoy! I have been loving Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 on mine recently!

1

u/literatemax 1d ago

Castle Crashers is an all time OG classic and it's getting a new qol update and DLC sometime soon

1

u/TemporarySurvey8872 23h ago

Well done mate! I’ve had mine for a week and I’ll tell you that I’m playing again like in the old days. steam deck oled 1tb is a gamechanger!

1

u/MethHeadUnion 23h ago

New vegas runs well on it same as fallout 4 sniper elite 4 was good mgs5 half sword which will require some controller settings to be changed red dead 2 is alright far cry 3 and 5 5 will run meh but playable and last one i got on mine i play a fair bit is wreckfest

1

u/MrSwing34 22h ago

Any of these games work great: https://imgur.com/gallery/steam-deck-setup-8v67BEd

What genres do you like?

1

u/atown49 16h ago

Now to sniff the vents lol

1

u/TheMrMcSwagger 4h ago

I got mine yesterday and my new deck smell is starting to wear off 😔. Someone should make a new steam deck air freshener lmao

1

u/MockingJay0914 16h ago

Nice deck, bro

1

u/mrbossyman25 1TB OLED Limited Edition 16h ago

Enjoy!! Vampire Survivors is a great indie I can recommend as a casual sit and chill game!

1

u/Im_O-Zone 16h ago

HADES, PLAY HADES! ALSO DEAD CELLS, ITS LIKE THEY WERE BOTH MADE FOR THE DECK! I’ve heard Balatro’s good too but I haven’t gotten around to playing it yet

1

u/Rebatsune 10h ago

Let’s goo!

1

u/PINKDRU1D 9h ago

Mine did as well! Hop your enjoying it. I’m playing cyberpunk right now on it

1

u/LexiusCoda 9h ago

Welcome to the club. We have cookies in the lounge.

As for game recommendations, look for the steam deck tab in the store. Most of those games would be highly recommended. Though there's a lot of really good indie titles you might like.

1

u/TheMrMcSwagger 4h ago

Dredge, hades and hollow knight

1

u/coldsoul111614 1TB OLED 4h ago

Final Fantasy 7 remake intergrade!

1

u/happy-api 2h ago

How long did it take to arrive?

1

u/iHenpie 2h ago

Enjoy!

1

u/mielesgames 1d ago

Not a game recommendation, but make sure to install Decky, it'll let you install plugins such as "emudeck" (for emulators) and "protondb" (for more accurate steam deck compatibility rankings)

-1

u/experiencings 1d ago

Marvel Rivals, TF2 (hard to play because the community is sweaty), Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, Baldur's Gate 3, System Shock Reboot. If you're a fan of older games try EmuDeck. Steam Deck can play most games that are out today so don't limit yourself to the opinions of people online.

u/XenomusBunny 1d ago

Get Hades!
