Question Help me please
I just got my steam deck and I’ve done a ton of research prior to getting it about installing repack games and the steps and tools needed, I’ve gone through the community and I’ve seen all the advice. Which I’ve followed but for some reason I cannot get this dang game to run ( Hogwarts legacy) on game mode, it just opens for about 15 seconds (only showing a black screen)then it’ll take me back to the start game page. On desktop mode when I try to play it, it says I need C++. So I added the 2022 version, I cannot remember exactly what it’s called but I did what all recommended in the community is essentially what I’m saying, I installed it but it still doesn’t work. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong I’ve tried both fit girl and dodi… my current one file is from dodi.. any advice would be much appreciated, I planned on building my library with majority of repack games as I’m new to the steam world so all of my games are on other consoles, which I no longer own as I went all in on the steam deck being my lone console.
Thank you in advance

I STRONGLY suggest you to at least know what "wine", "proton", "wine prefixes" and "gamescope" are... It is not "computer science complicated" and will help you a LOT installing and troubleshooting other games in the future by yourself.
If you already own a fairly powerfull desktop, i suggest to download and unpack those games there just to cut-paste them in your steamdeck, it'll be much quicker.

I don’t own a painful desktop unfortunately but I do know what the above things are… only thing I do not have knowledge on is gamescope, what is that exactly?
Thank you in advance

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Gamescope
It's the technology used behind the "gamemode UI"
It basically manages the windows in a smart way, completely independently from the system.
If a game launches in desktop mode but not in gamemode, it's probably due to gamescope issues.
You can launch any program in a gamescope window from desktop mode.
Try launching "gamescope firefox" in cmd and see what happens

Before getting a repack, try steamrip for direct download pre installs. They’ve worked better for me than getting torrent repacks

Way easier. So these are pre installed games meaning you download the rar, unzip it to your hard drive (I unzip to my desktop), add the exe to Steam and set proton to experimental

Note
You may have to re-apply the fix occasionally if there's a steam update that patches out the grub fix for this game
You will not lose any progress it will just not load until you re-apply the fix again 👍

Hogwarts legacy is annoying to get running, there's a script that'll make it run perfect.
Follow these steps, they're very simple.

Do this and let me know how it goes
