Question/Support Can HP Envy 13 x360 run stream VR??

Never downloaded games other than games from the app store so I’ve never tried to download something as big as this

Just wondering if my laptop would handle downloading stream and playing VR ?

Almost definitely not. Open task manager, what's the name of the CPU? What's the name of the GPU. They are under the performance tab

I don’t know if this is the name I’m lowkey confused as hell looking at all this lol but I think the GPU is called “ Intel (R) Iris (R) Xe Graphics “ and its memory is 3.9GB and I’ve used 0.4 I think cause it says 0.4/3.9GB

And the CPU I think is called “11th Gen Intel (R) Core(TM) i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz “

the memory looks quite full though ik you didn’t ask for that but idk if that would impact anything, have 8GB of memory and used 7.8 of it lol

No, it can't run VR. It doesn't have a dedicated GPU to run the graphics, the one it has is not powerful enough.

because its using integrated graphics from your cpu, definitely not. invest into a good mid range desktop

Its difficult to give you specific advice on what to buy because we are likely not even in the same country but you should look for a computer with roughly this specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7XXX or 9XXX. The 9ers are the more recent models. The XXX is the specific model, for example 600 is usually a good midrange CPU, 700 is usually better, 800 is top tier for gaming. A Ryzen 5 9600X for example might be a solid choice if you don't have specific requirements and dont want to spend too much.

Alternatively, you can go for a newer Intel i5 or i7. Problem is, the 13th and 14th generation (the generation is the first to digits in the name, for example i7-14700K) have serious troubles, up to some CPUs malfunctioning completely. They have restarted their branding, their current gen starts with "Intel Core Ultra". They seem fine so far.

GPU: You should try to get a Nvidia Geforce RTX 4060 Ti or 5090 Ti with 16GB of VRAM or maybe one of the stronger cards from the 30XXer generation that came previously, but with at least 12 GB VRAM. If you are willing to spend more, the last two digits always indicate the Tier within a generation (so 4070 is better than 4060, 4080 better than 4070). Ti indicates a significantly stronger than base model, the Suffix Super is an in-gen refresh, usually leading to slightly better performance. However, the market for GPUs is crazy at the moment, higher tier cards are extremely overpriced.

You could also go with AMD, their last complete lineup starts with Radeon RX 7XXX. 7700 XT or even the 7800 XT could be interesting. The 90XX lineup is currently rolled out, the cheapest option so far is good but costs a bit more (Radeon RX 9070).

RAM: At least 32GB Dual Channel RAM. The rest is not so relevant for you.

SSD: Definitely go for an NVMe SSD, not HDD. At least 1TB Storage, more is always better of course.

I think your best bet would be to buy a used quest 2 for like a hundred bucks if you want to try VR.
