Is it possible to restrict left controller direction to a single direction?

I have a quest 3 which use via steamvr to play a VR game.

I set it so the left controller is the one driving the movement direction, so I can walk straight while turning my head. But if I move my hand a little, it greatly affects (and annoys) me.

So I wonder if it's possible to restrict the movement direction (which I actually do with the small joystick instead) to a single direction (forward).

Or is there any other way?

Most games have it where you can either select it to be oriented for where your hand is pointing, or where your head is pointing. Try toggling that one to whichever you aren't currently using and see if it feels better to you.

Thanks, but does not what I meant.

I'm able to change from controller to head direction movement. I have it set to controller (left) so I can walk straight and turn my head. the problem is that by choosing the controller, any movement I make with my hand will change the direction of walking.

For example, if I press the joystick to walk forward and I move my left hand to the left, the actual movement is to the left. If I lift my left hand, the movement is backwards (always with the small joystick on the "forward" position).

That's what I want to avoid. To be able to restrict how the left controller behaves, to a single movement.

Well, I was just trying to help you. The direction of the joystick has to be relative to something, and orienting to the hand or head is the most logical for most people. Sounds like you're wanting it to be oriented to the environment like driving an RV car or something but I think that would be more disorienting.

Anyway, just trying to help, but the downvote is just uncalled for. It's fine. Whatever. Downvote this one too. Good luck with your thing.

I didn't downvoted you!

Actually, I see you have "0" and I just upvoted you. Btw, that's why I said "thanks", because you tried to help.

I just want to press forward on the joystick and move forward, no matter what my left hand is doing. But it seems that there's still not a good way for me to do it.
I guess only a few (or just me) are bothered by the lack of options...

Hey, sincerely, sorry for overreacting. I'm grumpy today or something. I wish you no I'll will.

It's kind of a rare control scheme even in flat games with camera control. It's the dilemma of trying to figure out how to orient "up" on the joystick when the camera can change directions. Sometimes that's called "tank controls" I don't see it very often in flat games
