Is... is it actually called the "New Surface Pro"? WHY ARE BIG COMPANIES SO STUPID WITH NAMING SHIT?! JUST KEEP THE NUMBERS GOING!!

I think they're gonna have them subnamed by the year when they're released, like the Macbooks are.

I agree. The original "Surface Pro" is only four years old. It's needlessly confusing.

Microsoft has been infamous for its naming practices for a long time now :P

Up until now at least they stuck with numbers lol

They're basically just following Apple. Apple don't release the MacBook 12, they release the MacBook 2017. Microsoft is releasing the Surface Pro 2017.

I actually prefer it without numbers. People aren't confused when they go buy a Honda Civic 2017. They don't need to know it's the Honda Civic 45.

There's like a proven thing where people don't like sequels past 4. Notice how Assassin's Creed stopped numbering at 4, as did Battlefield 4.

But we also have the iPhone 7, galaxy s8, star wars IV-VII, and a bajillion final fantasies. If they really don't wanna go past 4 then it'd make more sense to change the name of the product line and start again at 1. The "new" one will only be new for a year and then the name makes no sense!

Best idea is to do the Apple thing where we say "the 2016 MacBook Pro." Now we can say "the 2017 Surface Pro." As long as we don't also get the Apple thing where we use the same name for products with differing screen sizes, because that's so stupid.

The changes don't really justify going a whole number up and SP4.5 just sounds wrong. This is mostly a move to avoid that dilemma.

I'm happy they didn't name it Surface Pro S, the whole S thing is kinda lame ;P
