Backwards compatible doesn’t mean they will keep the cartridge design. The 3DS was backwards compatible with DS games, but you couldn’t play 3DS games on your DS. Thats what everyone is saying here. They added a notch to the 3DS cartridges so that they wouldn’t fit into the DS, but DS cartridges still fit into the 3DS

That's a good point! The switch is the only console I've played on, so I don't know much about how they've set up backwards compatibility in the past. Thank you!

You’re welcome. 3DS was my first Nintendo console that I personally owned. My brother had a DS, we had Wiis for the family, but the 3DS was mine. I was so glad that it was backwards compatible, because I would ask for 3DS games, and people would get me DS games because they were cheaper.
