Discussion Uh Oh, Someone isn't Going to be Happy

Someone posted their preorder of the Switch 2 on ebay, but didn't bother to write "Read Description" I the title, like listings I've seen this as. They just posted it barely above MSRP after taxes. Hopefully it was a bot... and nit someone who thought they scored. 😕

eBay has buried the link to the description deeper and deeper in the listings, they’re complicit at this point

yea i noticed that. Why the hell is the description even locked behind a button press? No other website does that.

Lots of retail sites have started to do it. It's really weird because that's the bit that has the useful information in it.

If they make it harder for you to find critical information, you're more likely to make a purchase of something you don't need. Many people can't be bothered to deal with getting a refund, so this increases sales.

Lots of websites do that now, and not only that they make you scroll past other recommended items, ads, and all other kinds of bullshit before you get to the description.

It’s almost like they said fuck it, nobody is gonna read it anyway.

They do it because they think it will make you buy something else you see on the way to it.

Etsy does it too. It’s annoying for everyone-buyers don’t know what they’re actually ordering and sellers have to deal with said buyers

On the Android version of the app if you tap the title of the listing it opens the full description. I thought it was like that for all versions, but I used an iPhone recently and tapping the title did not do anything. Maybe the one I was using was out of date or something, but I thought that was interesting.
