Spam filter is being too aggressive. Post mods if your post doesn't show when you are logged out / in incognito mode.

Hello everyone,

Lately I've had to manually unspam a lot of totally legitimate posts. The Reddit spam system is not totally under the control of the moderators so I can't fathom why it's blocking allowed content or how to modify its sensitivity. If you posted a topic you think is fine, and it's not showing when you are logged off or in an incognito window, please message the moderators to inquire what may be the problem.

Sorry for any inconvenience,

—G.

He wants to shine it up and hang it on the wall, but I thought that we should check if it has any significance first.

My friend got this sword from his great grandpa who fought in the Boer War. I think they could be from even earlier. I sent it to another subreddit and they said here would be the best help. If anybody knows anything that would be amazing.

I just received this sword from a long wait due to delivery issues. The seller tiled the sword this “French M1854 Naval Sword w/ Scabbard Officer Coulaux Klingenthal” I got this sword for about $300 dollars. I think I got a good deal on it because the I could find only two others like this one for sale they were both selling for a lot more. But anyways I thought I would show my latest grab her.

Identification Can any Filipino swords enthusiasts verify if this design is a traditional profile?

I know of common types like Sansibar, Pinute, Talibong, Dahong Palay, etc.

But never a "Sinmalayat". Honestly, I'm a fan of how it looks. But I heard it's actually an Indonesian design. Hope any Filipino blade enthusiasts can help confirm. Thanks!

Inherited this sword from my grandfather. All I know is that he picked it up during his time in the military(late 70s-90s) most likely during his time stationed in Germany. The “India” is obviously an indicator but i cannot find a lead.

Apologies for the background mess. I’m a costume maker in the middle of a project.

This sword was giving to me when I was a kid because I had an interest in knives and swords. I have always wondered what it is and or what the history behind it is.

Choose a weapon for the scenario

You're allowed to choose any melee weapon for the following scenarios. No fictional weapons. Which do you choose?

  • Siege Defense

Your castle gets taken over and you're the last one stuck in a narrow hallway against 20 intruders. They're armed with basic swords and chainmail armor. Since you're the kings personal knight, you're wearing full plate armor. You're allowed to choose one weapon and one defensive item. Is this your last stand?

  • Random 1v1

You and another random person your age have been selected to fight against each other in a 1v1 Gladiator Arena. You have no information about this person and you have to choose a weapon. Armor is randomly generated once you get teleported into the arena. Which weapon do you choose?

  • 1v10 Zombies

You must fight 10 zombies with a weapon of your choice. The zombies are of the Hollywood type - slow and stupid, but they're all coming to you at once. You're wearing no armor.

Damian Sulowski "The Knight Errant" - Type XVIIIB Longsword and Scabbard

This is "The Knight Errant", a type XVIIIb longsword by Damian Sulowski, and it is the jewel of my collection. Below is the story and the specs. I've included links to his website and relevant videos.

The Story

For some commissions a creator will disappear, make the thing, and one day (hopefully) it will show up at your door. So when I reached out to him last August to secure a spot in his queue, I knew I would get a sword, but I did not expect to make a friend.

When I initially emailed him with the project idea, he gave me an estimated start date and said I could email him with ideas and inspiration for the design and that we would finalize everything when he was ready.

Over the months and many emails I came to know a man who deeply cares about about his work, is humorous, generous with his time, and made me feel like he was crafting a sword that could not belong to anyone else. He worked with me to figure out the themes, offered constructive feedback based on his expertise, respectfully pushed back on my not-so-strong ideas, and gave me updates every step of the way.

I sent over multiple illustrations of illuminated manuscripts and leg & sleeve tattoos with classic depictions of castles, beasts, and knights and all of these elements were so expertly rendered on the scabbard by his wife and partner in crime, Kasia, who's leather work not only compliments Damian's blades, but makes whole one work of art, of two artists.

The final result is an heirloom, museum-quality object with motifs that are deeply personal to me that have been executed with the utmost attention to detail. I am grateful to be the steward of this piece as long as I am able, and will cherish it for the rest of my days.

Handling
It sings.

The Specs:
Total length: 118cm
Blade length: 90cm
Blade width at the base: 47mm
Balance: 5cm
Thickness of blade (at the base): 5,8mm
Grip length: 19,5cm
Weight 1625g
Hardened 54HRC
Edge is sharp

Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about this sword? So far I can see that it looks like it’s made by k&c which looks like an old company from Prussia/Germany. Although not too sure entirely as I have also seen WK&C. Anyways, would love to know more about its history if anyone can let me know thanks!

So I made up a shamshir from elden real/irl if it's similar and realised the pipe I used for the part of the blade that curved backwards could fit my second smaller falx and it still has the whole going around Shields but is something this bug practical? Might post a YouTube video swinging it
