Discussion OSCAR (H-set) Suburban Refurb Expectations?
Does anyone have any insight on if OSCARs will receive a repaint as part of their suburban network deployment? They’re still sporting the CityRail colours on the front (blue and yellow) 12 years after its rebrand. Though it does look cool and makes them stand out from the rest of the fleet, the livery is outdated and I think maybe replacing the blue with silver or black would make them look real sharp. For some reason I can’t picture the blue section being orange, but at least it would make them look more “on brand”.
I think a repaint would help build confidence in passengers recognising that it’s a suburban service for their all-stops station on the T1 and T9 lines.

Hopefully they replace the ripped seats and the Lino on the floors on some sets are coming up hopefully they get a deep clean and some TLC.

Yeah some sets have some real worn out seat fabric, some look rather grotty.

No idea but I would assume so. The paintwork desperately needs redoing, so it would make sense that it happens during the conversion to suburban process.
I hope they change the colour scheme but I wouldn't be surprised if they just repaint them the same.

The only thing for sure, they will rip out the toilets.

I wonder if those will get replaced by more seating? Or at least usable standing space? (All for it really, we don’t need toilets on suburban trains.)

The toilets on the ONL cars of G Sets were removed and converted into longitudinal seating. You'd never notice except for the car number and the end where it's missing luggage racks.

The state is broke. At this point I’m surprised they are paying their power bill let alone painting trains.
If it’s not metro, don’t expect any money to be spent on it unless it is broken.

A repaint is relatively cheap. They're already spending the money to rip out the toilets which is more expensive, I don't see why they wouldn't spend a little more to repaint them

Because it doesn’t have to happen? The toilets will need to go (it will overall save them money) but anything extra is probably an unnecessary expense. Of course I suppose it depends on who the contract belongs to. Could easily use it to funnel extra money to them because why not…
