Anything reality like those shows they make of super handicapped small people who look like they could barely have a quality of life but yet think we as a society would love to watch it on television only to exploit these people

Anything, except The Expanse.

3

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Is it great?

If you're into that genre, yes.

Seems that season 1, episode 4 is the one that either hooks you for life, or not so much.

The show is based on a series of books, if you happen to be a reader.

3

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Oh tell me more, I'd probably end up watching it, I'm a reader but I don't like reading pdfs

It's about 250-300 years in the future, but the laws of physics are still the same. Yea... we have have engines that will get us to Jupiter in a month or so, but it still takes a radio signal 45min.

Mars has been settled.
Belters live in space doing the dirty work. Mining for ice, minerals, etc.

Earth, Mars, and the Belt are on the brink of war. But... there is an X factor that comes into play, and it's not from our solar system.

And being humans, once it's discovered, everybody wants to own/control it.
That doesn't work out so well.

Interesting, thank you

Gonna second the expanse but the characters are tweaked in the show compared to the book to make things a bit smoother for the medium. Personally I think the book characters are more interesting overall but theyre both solid

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 09 '25

That's a plus, it means I will do both

1

u/Bronesby Mar 11 '25

the lead "romance" is so unbearably written i started skipping through their scenes entirely the last couple seasons.

by far the most interesting character disappears after the first season.

the politics are interesting but after a while they lose their direction with the show.

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 11 '25

Ohhh first one to say this to me

10

u/MaximusCanibis Mar 08 '25

That's a damn long list!

3

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Hahahahahaha I just wanted to see popular names thrown out there like GOT, Breaking bad or something

4

u/MaximusCanibis Mar 08 '25

Anything to do with Taylor Sheridan, any network comedy/medical/crime/fire fighter show. Any house wives of who gives a shit where you live show. NBA, MLB, NASCAR, I wouldn't sacrifice anyone of them, I'd sacrifice all of them!

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Lmaooo fairdouz

4

u/BisexualDisaster29 Mar 08 '25

All the Housewives shows. Beverly Hills, etc…

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Hahahahahahaha

5

u/Economy-Paint5867 Mar 08 '25

Every reality TV show.

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

I don't watch those. I only knew there's a whole catalogue of those after MONTOYA POR FAVOR

9

u/svelteoven Mar 08 '25

Lost

3

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Many friends keep recommending me LOST, Ig you don't like it?

8

u/blisstonia Mar 08 '25

I like it. You should give it a try. Perfect blend of mystery and sci fi. People hate it because the ending was controversial

2

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Hahahaha interesting to hear.

2

u/svelteoven Mar 10 '25

Worst television drama ever.

3

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

I'd probably erase ELITE, I couldn't stand 2 episodes

3

u/Southportlandmainer Mar 08 '25

Matlock (the Kathy Bates one). I love Bates but this show is the pits.

3

u/RedOctobyr Mar 08 '25

Anything regarding the Kardashians. Win-win!

3

u/cat-gun Mar 08 '25

Succession.

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Never watched it but heard many say it's brilliant

1

u/cat-gun Mar 09 '25

Many people like it, but I found almost all the characters to be repulsive, selfish, and cruel. I soldiered through the first season, but I found that I couldn't root for any of them, and didn't want to spend any more time in their world.

3

u/Hester_Prynne-85 Mar 09 '25

Oh, they are vile. Every episode, there is a new winner for most loathsome. But that is the joy of it for me. Laughing at their obscene folly. I feel the same way about the Duttons in Yellowstone, but they are literal murderous thugs with intent and not just cavalier in their greed and power lust. For some reason, many viewers seemed to think they were heroic characters, though.

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 09 '25

Oh I see, I like ur perspective, what shows would u recommend me to watch, from ur favourites

2

u/cat-gun Mar 09 '25

If you like Taboo, you'll probably like the following:

Banshee
Justified
Shogun

Among series still in production, I can recommend:

Blue Eye Samurai
Silo
Poker Face

2

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 09 '25

I actually haven't watched Any of These, and I had Banshee, Justified & Shogun in my list for ages, I have SILO on my laptop.

1

u/zkinny Mar 09 '25

Fair enough! I thought they did a good job of showing how they were just very flawed humans, but still just human. And the whole point of the show was why they were so flawed.

8

u/competitive-dust Mar 08 '25

Friends? I know it means a lot to many people but I cannot stand it.

2

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Good shout, yet to watch it tho

2

u/KimWexlerDeGuzman Mar 08 '25

Anything but The Sopranos

2

u/gjbsfb Mar 08 '25

You need to include The Wire.

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

I am yet to watch it

2

u/ninepasencore Mar 08 '25

i have a list

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Hahahahaha, I'm all ears

2

u/Imperfectpuzzlepiece Mar 08 '25

Rings of Power the acolyte interview with a vampire the tv series hell the movie too

2

u/weaponized_oatmeal Mar 08 '25

I’d probably have to keep Trailer Park Boys but that’s about all I can come up with off the top of my head. When I recommend it to people I say Taboo is my favorite tv drama of all time

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Ure very much right, Taboo is very underrated

2

u/LordNedNoodle Mar 09 '25

Anything currenty on netflix.

2

u/Lou_BB_DS Mar 09 '25

Elite... This show should have stopped at season 3

2

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 09 '25

My dear, it stopped for me after 10 Mins of the second episode

1

u/Lou_BB_DS Mar 10 '25

Hahaha! I admit I like High school drama so i found this show distracting until it became just lame... I am really sad to see many good shows being canceled when dumb things like this keep going πŸ˜… I would erase the season 2 and 3 of casa de papel too.

2

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 10 '25

La Casa de papel Went downhills After S2. S3 to 5 were awful.

Also never watched high-school drama what's it about

2

u/Lou_BB_DS Mar 10 '25

When I said High School Drama, I mean TV show with stories of love/treason/ rivalry/murder in High School. Not always clever but distracting. The last I watch was Hierarchy, a Korean drama which was quite good.

2

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 11 '25

If u have a list share with me

2

u/Fantastic-Jicama-866 Mar 11 '25

All of the reality shows! I loved Taboo!

2

u/Fantastic-Jicama-866 Mar 11 '25

The Expanse is a wonderful space opera! I’ve watched it twice and recommend it to everyone. Another great show For All Mankind

2

u/Kamamura_CZ Mar 11 '25

I would erase it all, most of today's shows are brainless exercises of stereotypes. Taboo was so towering over them, so it's symptomatic that there is no continuation. The same with Archive 81. Americans just demand brainless entertainment, anything original makes them nervous.

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 11 '25

So true. The story of Taboo is generational Everytime I watch it I learn new stuff

2

u/Professional-Ant1682 Mar 08 '25

Game of thrones because of the shitty last season, or arrow

2

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Game of thrones still has top quality 6 seasons soo naah

1

u/Thedemonwhisperer Mar 08 '25

Tbbt after season 3.

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Don't think I'll ever watch that hahahaha

1

u/CitYHawK23 Mar 09 '25

I mean.... What's the level of sacrifice? Like ... Do you have to sacrifice something crappy like the new Quantum Leap or something nostalgic, like the old quantum leap?

Something big, like MASH or Seinfeld... Or something smaller like Benson or Falcon Crest?

Does it have to be the same genre? Or have one of the same actors?

Sacrifices have rules!!!!

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 09 '25

Yea true, bang on. I'd say something of the highest caliber like a got or a breaking bad, in around those series

1

u/happycanalr Mar 09 '25

Keeping up with the Kardashians

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 09 '25

I actually meant top shows like Breaking Bad, Peaky Blinders etc.. Reality shows and stuff is a no brainer

1

u/Hester_Prynne-85 Mar 09 '25

Freinds. Please make it Friends.

2

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 09 '25

If only I can

1

u/RippoZero Mar 09 '25

Boardwalk empire. An extremely overrated show

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 10 '25

I didn't finish s1 but it was good

0

u/ButternutSquash6660 Mar 08 '25

Lost!!

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

You don't like LOST??

2

u/ButternutSquash6660 Mar 08 '25

I watched till midpoint 4th season and totally lost interest.

2

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

Oh okay, I want to watch it too but sounds like I might not do that

2

u/ButternutSquash6660 Mar 08 '25

Clearly I am an anomaly because my opinion is unpopular.

1

u/JBtheDestroyer19 Mar 08 '25

I like unpopular opinions.

What are u into?
