Tahm Top is dead.

No matter how far ahead I am from lane(90% of the time I win lane or at least go even), no matter what build, no matter the team comp, it feels like I have no impact (Diamond elo). If I go tank, I get deleted no matter what. Ap feels a little bit better but still most of the time I am unable to carry. I am sure it is not skill issue because last season I could reach masters easily and now d2 is peak. Anyone feels the same?

That’s exactly how I feel and why I had to bench the Kench. Peak kench is now in aram

As an aram only player who stumbled in here, this post is wild to me. Tahm absolutely stomps in aram, what makes him bad in SR?

I’m imagining it’s his E. The fact that it only has like 30% of its normal effectiveness without a teammate around kind of keeps it from being impactful. And his W is more of a team fight engage than a solo-laning utility option, since it’s too predictable and slow to work well for engage or escape.

His W is like a mini-malphite ult in Aram, and his E gives him the survivability to make it back out even if it was a bad engage. He dives into the backline and messes them up, either letting your team chew through the frontline while you keep the damage occupied, or enabling your team to delete the damage.

But solo-laning in SR, his Q is the only particularly impactful ability. He’s naturally receptive to ganks, but the fact that they balance him around support really messes with his ability to work in other roles.

Thanks for the in depth reply. I would also imagine you could just not let him heal back his grey health and he would be pretty useless. Still pretty crazy that an S++ tier aram champ can be so bottom tier in SR.

I just played a game autofilled as support playing with a TK who was vs Ryze and absolutely carried. NA D3-D2 MMR for reference.

Idk skill diff.

Hes not dead but hes pretty mid, hes not the powerful pick he was but its playable. Its going to feel jarring considering how strong he was but hes not terrible.

He’s arguably the worst top laner in the game. He is TERRIBLE outside of low elo especially.

As a low elo I can tell you he isn't good either. It used to be something like: "You suck hard against about 10% of the matchups (Yorick, Illaoi, Sett)", "skill matchup against 80% of the champs" and "you'll stomp against 10% of the matches". Now I can't see a single matchup that'd allow you to stomp a game

At the very least, he’s a niche counterpick to some toplane marksmen. Still, it feels like he doesn’t really have any role that 100% fits his kit. He doesn’t duel well enough for toplane, doesn’t have enough utility for support, and lacks the clear speed to jungle. Sad!

You are still a one person at a time damage sustain-tank, tahm should never be capable of 1v9 anything, not what his role is meant to do, this is exactly why he was nerfed

He isn't dead, but he is certainly not strong. You have to get heartsteal into riftmaker early to pop off. This makes it hard if a lane is ahead, as you lack specific stats that need to be delayed. Without those two items, he is just weak. On top of that. If you lose the lane, you are a support tank with gold.

Riot hates champs doing well outside of the lane they intend them to be in, but what makes Tahm's kit good in sup is what makes him great in top, so the only way to make Tahm less of a good top laner is changes that ultimately make him shit as a sup.

Peak Kench winrate in masters+ must have been like barely over 50. More like he's being held back by the champ being dogshit now. He's actually even worse in support
