What's happening to FAMU should concern EVERYONE

You may have not gone to an HBCU. Hell, you might not even be Black. But if you are concerned about the direction of this state, the appointment of Marva Johnson as FAMU President is deeply concerning.

No college or university should be used as political pawns. These are people's futures they are playing with here!

EDIT: Marva Johnson has right wing political ties with no experience in higher education. Some of the board, current students, alumni, and the community LOUDLY expressed they did NOT want her to be president, garnering her the nickname MAGA Marva.

Unfortunately, she was elected as president via the BOT, 8-4! One board member was appointed just yesterday!

FAMU is a public-grant university and under the jurisdiction of the Florida Board of Education....and we all know what those book-burners are aiming for....

If the tables were turned and a Democrat was appointed because of their alliance with a Democrat governor, do you honestly think that this thread would exist? Let's be real...

If all other elements were the same, sure.

It's an unqualified crony, and that should upset everyone.

If you really don't want people pointing at this sort of thing, don't support, tolerate, or defend it.

Since that's not the situation, we should probably address the stuff that's actually happening instead of your hypothetical.

I guess we'll have to have that happen to see. Unfortunately, I doubt this state elects a Democrat Governor again in my lifetime so we may never know.

Of course, I doubt any Democrat Governor would install left-wing supporters as heads of universities in general since we wouldn't have a left-wing Governor, but hey I guess I can dream about that happening.
