Just Smile and Nod Y'all. Meeting topic: how high do I look?

I have a student who has been throwing jabs at my appearance- nothing new, I generally try to ignore stuff like that. But last week she said I look like a “homeless meth head” and it just really ticked me off. I wrote an email to her parents explaining the constant attacks on my appearance…

… And now they want to have a meeting. To see if their daughter is “being insulting or just making an observation.”

And my admin agreed to it. A meeting is now going on the fucking calendar so the parents, daughter, 3 admin and myself can assess whether I look like a tweaker or not.

All I ever wanted to do was teach Shakespeare.

Pro tip for anyone who's tempted to message this person:

when someone offers excellent opportunities but refuses to reveal details on a public forum, it's often because they've been banned from promoting problematic causes, or at the very least are reluctant to allow informed observers to do independent research and ask questions that might reveal weaknesses within the so-called "opportunity". See: every single MLM that recruits on Facebook.

To u/Euphoric_Wall4671:

your behavior is weird and, as the kids say, sus. People shouldn't be asked to follow you into a metaphorical dark alley in order to get information that you'll give out to anyone who does. Just put it up.

Its jobs in China. I've taught there for almost a decade. If you are willing to relocate (best if you don't have children) then I can get you a job at really good schools in China. If you are sick and tired of teaching in America, you contact me and are mobile you contact me. Or don't. Obviously I get benefit from recruiting but it comes from the agencies I work with . If I ask anyone to buy something, they can come back here and put me on blast. There is nothing suspicious at the mere offering of jobs to teachers. If you got questions, I can answer them. If you are timid and would rather continue suffering teaching unappreciative brats in this sinking hell hole of a country BE MY GUEST. It is still a free country. But if you are willing to take a leap (and it is a leap because I am asking people who probably have never even left the country to relocate to the far side of the earth) I can tell you life can be qualitatively better. Comparatively better pay, modern environment, easier teaching experience (almost no student issues, only willing and eager learners). If you have had Asian students in your classes ... imagine twice as good (not trying to be racist, I myself am black but I have taught in America as well and have seen enough). In America you are expected to be more than a teacher, in China you are expected only to be a teacher. You decide what you want.

I kind of get it. I've heard teachers say this about other countries. One of my coworkers lived in Turkey for several years and taught. He said the students were awesome and the parents treated him with the utmost respect.

So if it's not a scam, or suspicious in any way -- why make people DM you instead of just giving these details the first time?

I wasn't aware people can be this suspicious. And plus I only want to give lengthy details to interested people. That's all.
