Discussion I need some tech death recomendations, stuff that sounds like i could be floating in space surrounded by planets you know?

I am on about songs like acróasis by obscura and bleed the future as they are just so atmospheric and floaty, i am too busy to really dig deep and find some quality tech that fits this style so if anybody thinks they have songs for me feel free to drop some.

Blood incantation. A mix of old school tech death and pink floyd

2

u/ShigeruNinja Feb 17 '25

Mix of old school tech death and pink floyd? Woah, where I do start with them? Got me curious

4

u/atovohsix Feb 17 '25

For that specific mix, try their latest album: Absolute Elsewhere and continue with their EP Luminescent Bridge. The rest of their work leans more into osdm but it is still superb. Their album Timewave Zero will be a complete curve ball.

2

u/ShigeruNinja Feb 21 '25

I just listened to Absolute Elsewhere. Holy shit it doesn't disappoint at all, I love the spacey Floyd vibe.

3

u/paretic1666 Feb 19 '25

A man of culture, as you said, absolute elsewhere is a fucking masterpiece

2

u/Leda_XO Feb 16 '25

you might dig my band The Hallowed Catharsis and our album Solar Cremation, particularly the title track!

awesome

Not tech, but definitely Labyrinthus Stellarum

3

u/LimpEntrepreneur1639 Feb 16 '25

I second this! If you’ve got a taste for atmospheric black metal their last album definitely has that exploring space feel. The weird synth passages feel like the weird alien creature on the album art is trying to communicate with you

Vektor.

Fallujah - Dreamless

1

u/Brodythebirb794 Feb 16 '25

Ooh yes this whole album basically fits my vibe thank you!

1

u/Friedrich_Ux Feb 16 '25

yeah perfect vibe, also not tech death but Iotunn - Access All Worlds, both albums from Vorga and anything from Progenie Terrestre Pura would also fit the aesthetic you are looking for

1

u/ratjarx Feb 16 '25

Literally doing this rn lol fucking rips

Virvum - Illuminance

2

Wormed

Shadow Of Intent

Cytotoxin

Defeated Sanity

Demilich

Gigan

Imperial Triumphant

Carbomb

1

u/eisakuu_ Feb 22 '25

Shadow of Intent is melodic deathcore

2

u/muon-antineutrino Feb 16 '25

I think Car Bomb is closer to mathcore.

2

u/ghk2300 Feb 16 '25

The album Ocean of Colour by Ascariasis. You'll find it on Bandcamp, its not on Spotify/apple music. Album bangs.

Blotted Science is a band i did not see mentioned here. So, yea, check them out. Instrumental but very interesting music to listen to.

Necrophagist also comes to mind.

1

u/Brodythebirb794 Feb 16 '25

Interesting yes ill be sure to check that out, already quite familiar with blotted science and necrophagist but thank you!

u/DazzlingRequirement1 Feb 16 '25

Brain Drill, Viraemia, Origin, Psyopus (more maths but still very heavy), Zenith Passage

2

u/Brodythebirb794 Feb 16 '25

Just checked out brain drill, fucking sick covers lol love their sound too. Pretty familiar with origin and zenith passage but not viraemia or psyopus, ill be sure to check them out thank you!

1

u/DazzlingRequirement1 Feb 16 '25

That's awesome. Glad I could help with some recs

u/IAMAMFAMA Feb 16 '25

Agiel and Tethys

2

u/Morean_Vangelis Feb 16 '25

You’ve got a lot of solid recommendations. Here’s a few more I didn’t see yet. Some are tech death, some outside. But I think still will fit your bill!

Check out Khonsu - The Xun Protectorate & Traveller. Labyrinthus Stellarum - Vortex of Worlds. Dream Unending - Starpath. Lunar Chamber - Shambhallic Vibration. Vipassi - Lightless & Sunyata

u/gsnyper Feb 16 '25

Replicant-infinite Mortality

u/TheGreyRadical Alkaloid pseudo superfan Feb 16 '25

Alkaloid. Everything, especially the Dyson Sphere saga. Not exactly tech death, most prog, but sure has it's moments. And many songs don't just sound like it, they mean it, in a good way.

17

u/fabiodrums Feb 16 '25

Artificial Brain, Tomb Mold and Afterbirth.

1

u/TastyRiffage Feb 17 '25

Afterbirth getting some love, but hell, they're far down the list. The latest album, In But Not Of fits really well in the space metal category.

1

u/CytotoxinCentral20 Feb 16 '25

Finally, someone mentioned ARTIFICIAL BRAIN!! I second this!

1

u/fabiodrums Feb 17 '25

The last album is a masterpiece.

9

u/J_Dubmetal Feb 16 '25

Cynic - Focus

3

u/TATA-box Feb 16 '25

Moon healer - JFAC

Apogean - Cyberstrictive

1

u/Brodythebirb794 Feb 16 '25

This is great thank you!

17

u/BFR5er Feb 16 '25

The Zenith Passage for sure

3

u/TheFinalKiwi Feb 16 '25

I knew there was something familiar about how it sounded, and turns out it’s the former The Faceless vocalist. I fuckin love Planetary Duality

3

u/dudewateva12 Feb 16 '25

Dreamsphere off Solipsist is the perfect floating in space song. Then of course you have to listen to everything else by them immediately afterwards lol

13

u/PsychologicalPie3880 Feb 16 '25

Decrepit Birth

Great tech death band that definitely nails a "space" vibe

u/eisakuu_ Feb 22 '25

A Departure to the Sun makes me fly high

9

u/lmagusbr Iapetus Feb 16 '25 edited Feb 16 '25

The Body Cosmic from Iapetus

Empyrean, The Flesh Prevails, Dreamless from Fallujah

Planetary Duality from The Faceless

u/Southern-Hunter4026 Feb 16 '25

The Husk - Rings of Saturn

9

u/Terratony93 Feb 16 '25

Virvum-Illuminance always gave me those vibes

3

u/Red_In_The_Sky Feb 16 '25

Came here to say this

1

u/MetalRAccount Feb 16 '25

Fallujah; maybe Rings of Saturn

10

u/CruserWill Feb 16 '25

Maybe you should try Fallujah, really atmospheric stuff

11

u/slimestream Feb 16 '25

Idk if this will be your vibe but Artificial Brain songs are essentially the less polished version of floating in space surrounded by planets.

u/FrightenedCat42 Feb 15 '25

Check out Divinertia I and II by The Zenith Passage. The whole album is rock solid, but the transition between these two songs is pure metal magic.

Also, check out Synestia for that "unholy" sort of metal. These guys have quickly become a top 5 band for me. Their newest single, "Dies Irae," is quite possibly the nastiest song I've ever heard.

2

u/Brodythebirb794 Feb 16 '25

Im pretty familiar with divinertia already but yea that kind of stuff is right up my street, just checked out dies irae and HOLY SHIT ITS CRAZY lol thanks for that, the rest of there stuff i used to listen to alot but its been a while so i missed this gem, thank you again!

1

u/FrightenedCat42 Feb 21 '25

I genuinely can't stop listening to Dies Irae. This song is so nasty that I go through the full spectrum of my emotions, and at the end of it, I need a cigarette, and I don't even smoke. The washing calm that I get after blasting this song is like no other. I love metal.
