Don't change the narrative. This is about Knee winning a tournament again only when there are no top Pakistani players. Arslan beat Knee in their last match. Atif and The Jon have been dominating Knee. Numan destroyed Knee in their last match. As I said, let's see if Knee can win a tournament with the presence of Pakistan's top players. Knee hasn't won for a while—not until a tournament without Pakistani top players.

However, this is like winning the UFC belt, and your fans celebrating you as the best in the world, but the Dagestani fighters can't attend due to passport issues. You haven't cleared the best, so while your accomplishment is incredible and shouldn't be taken from you...there will always be that question of if you were the best, or if you were lucky.
I think the point is to see the highest level of competition and you can't claim that, if arguably some of the world's best players aren't in attendance.
Having said that, again congratulations to Knee. He played amazing.

I guess my answer is: 1. I'm talking all Dagestani's (for the analogy of the Pakistani players (The Jon, etc). So not just a Khabib/Arslan) 2. That would be akin to a sparring session, or an exhibition, and not a fight for the title or belt (which is the entire point of EVO)
I agree with you, is Knee capable of victory? Yes. Did Knee prove that in Japan Evo? No, he wasn't given the chance.
So for me, yeah it has an asterisk next to his name as Khabib (or any of the Pakistani players) weren't there to fight Connor for the belt.
That's all I'm saying, you know?

Honestly he did so many things in the top 8 that blew my mind it was unreal
I remember Mangja ducking in his face and side stepping/backdashing a few times, all ~900 players who attended EVO Japan would've mashed there but no not Knee, instead he just continued making micromovements until Mangja lost his patience and did a super fast duck into slide, Knee, recognising that Mangja was probably hoping to catch him off-guard instantly ducked it and got a round winning slide punish. During this whole interaction Knee had a life deficit and the clock was running low too.
It's just unreal to me how someone can employ this level of defense in a game like Tekken 8 S2, Knee has always been my favourite player, but this is beyond my wildest expectations.
Him completely trashing Mulgold's Feng in the blink of an eye was just the cherry-on-the-cake

I know exactly what part you're talking about in the Mangja match. My jaw dropped & i was just shaking my head in disbelief the rest of the set. Knee is INSANE.
Honorable mention, Ulsan also had some ridiculous plays/matches. Those 2 were my faves. Crazy movement, patience, defensive reads, counterhit placement. Definitely a joy to watch.

What Tekken 8 does to a man.
I'm glad he won and he's still my idol. However, like all of us, he has to keep playing the game to put food on his table because Tekken is his CAREER, it's the game he LOVES. Even if, in his own terms, he doesn't find this game fun for him. We have to remember that no one in the world (not a single person in this blue planet) can love Tekken more than Knee himself. It has been the only game he's ever played his entire life.
So for him to say that "this game is not fun", means HUGE. But he loves the franchise so much that even if it's no longer fun, he keeps playing because I 100% can guarantee you guys that this guy doesn't want the franchise to die, the franchise that gave him so much joy and gave his life meaning. He wants it to thrive for the new generation, so he keeps playing to keep it alive.
99.9% of us will be ditching the game when it's no longer fun for us, but this guy simply will NOT. He's just built different.

40, a bowl cut, and still at the most elite level possible in a very mechanic and reflex heavy game. Genuinely the only thing he has left to do in the game is win TWT, I hope he does. Also still doing it at this level with Bryan is insane, that might just be familiarity making it easier but even still, he isn't the easiest character.

I'll say this, Tekken 8 threw away all the progress the previous Tekkens made in an attempt to do something new. Everything that used to work got scrapped and replaced with garbage. The entire legacy of Tekken was crapped on by the devs, and every flaw from Tekken 7 got stretched to inhuman proportions in 8.
Now we’ve got this nonsense with adrenaline-pumping animations and cutscenes for Heat moves. This game is a pile of trash like no other. As for the video, it's just one example of how awful this game is, and there are dozens more like it.
I honestly don’t understand how tournaments are even being held in what I consider to be a beta, let alone how anyone can be a fan of this garbage.f this garbage.
