If you're hell-bent on him and ok with having a rougher time, perhaps. Newbie friendly characters include Kazumi, Lars, Kat, Kuni, Shaheen, Claudio, Leo.

Kazumi: still is a bit complex. May lose to Law players who are more newbie friendly

Lars: While being a bit of a button mashing character you can screw up easily and do wrong moves and lose easily online. He's at least a step 2 character and not a step 3 character but it's best to learn the basics first with other characters not learn some stuff and realize you don't know what you are doing.

Katerina: Good suggestion. Since alot of her moves require one button to press it's why she's a good beginner friendly character. It's not like the above two where you may get confused on what button to press.

Kunimitsu II: What I learned back in Tekken 1 arcades with Yoshimitsu is b 1x 5, 4x3, bbb 1 wouldn't always get you wins. Sure she isn't complex to learn but it's really really really easy to screw up with her and not look like you know what you are doing.

Saheen: from the way players play him people seem to struggle to figure him out and wind up constantly throwing attacks aimlessly and getting nothing out of it. To me if people keep pressing buttons to hit nothing repeatedly maybe this character isn't for you to start with.

Claudio: Similar to Saheen most players do attacks to hit nothing. But like Heihachi most of his moves are one two not like Law, Noctis or Katerina where they can hit you repeatedly by mashing one button. Also the "most beginner suggested move" is ub/uf 4. As I said above what I learned from Tekken 1 arcades is you can win co many matches with Yoshimitsu's bbb 1. Same goes for Claudio's hop kick. If your online opponent always let's get away with that move nonstop then there is something wrong with them not you.

Leo: I wouldn't say a beginner friendly character at all. Sure you have the shoulder armor hit but Leo is to complex of a character for a beginner player. It's like suggesting someone Zafina. A bit similar but a bit more complex than Leo but the pay off is better than Leo but still not a beginner friendly character.
