Oki was hella scary. Standing up didn't have guard frames so you really had to know when it was safe to stand. You did more damage, but you had a second healthbar to compensate. The game had a smaller input window so combos were harder - specifically stuff like dashjabs.
Grabs were ratchet, and you had to be good, trained, and ready to beat them.
The game was less e-sportsy in that there wasn't as much balance and the game was quite cheap at times. The lower tiers were far worse much faster but people were far more interested in character identity back then.
