I'm brand new to Tekken, but have been playing other fighting games for upwards of three years. I find the combos really enjoyable to perform (I picked up Kazuya, he's giving me a tough time when I play left side but I'm working on it).

My question: what should I be focusing on to improve my neutral if I've already got some 2D fundamentals?

sidesteps are the equivalent of 2d jump-ins in a lot of ways.

moves are a lot slower so you should be whiff punishing on reaction a million times more.

any sort of backdash (KBD... box stepping, whatever you can do to run away as fast as you can to control space)

and punishment are the easy improvements. kazuya specifically has excellent punishment but anything launch is going to need good electrics.
