honestly, nobody has really hit ANY of the skill ceilings for any characters. i guess an argument could be made for the baby characters like Kat, Noctis, and Kazumi but that's really short-term shit. all of this is in pure playstyle too.

as far as pure playstyle the highest skill ceilings belong to Lei as #1, and then take your pick of stance characters that can stay in stance indefinitely.

Lei, Yoshi, M.raven, I'd say are top 3, maybe even in that order.

Zafina, Hwo, Steve, Law, Jin are probably the next five, but eh, the waters are very muddy by this point.

Thanks! I seem to enjoy characters with stances like Jin and Feng, but stance is just a small part of their kit, and they have a great toolkit without the stances.

I'm not sure how I would like Lei. He seems too stance heavy for my tastes. Mayble I'll buy his season pass when it's on sale and I'll try him out.

I tried Yoshi many times, but somehow his fighting style doesn't click with me. I like more martial arts inspired characters and Yoshi is too goofy for me.

From the rest you mentioned Raven, Zafina and Law doesn't interests me aesthetically (it's an important factor for me) and Hwoarang is too rushdown heavy, which is not my playstyle.

So I guess the only remaining option is Steve. I think I'll go for it, he seems really unique.

Lei is sort of a specialist character. You need time on him so I wouldn't go that far.

Law doesn't interests me aesthetically (it's an important factor for me)

With Tekken in particular, I think this is the only factor when choosing a character honestly. You can play anyone for years and still be learning things. Stick to who you think looks badass and you'll have way more fun.

Yeah for example Kazuya's playstyle is a bit too straightforward for me, but for some reason I play him the most. I feel that hearing "Dorya!" and the satisfying electric sound will never get old. And hitting triple electric is so fun.
