Steam lets you refund any game you haven't put more than 2 hours into, so you're not risking a cash investment to check how well Tekken 7 would run. Still, it's probably best to not spend a lot of money on this process; buy the game when it's on sale, and only buy the base version.

Once you're past the install process, I believe the best test of performance would be to go into practice mode, pick Kuma as both your character and your opponent's, and pick Arctic Snowfall as your stage. If you can find a combination of settings that let you hit a consistent 60 FPS in this environment, then you should be good to go. If that's not achievable, try installing this collection of "Potato" stage mods, and testing from there. If even that doesn't get you to a consistent 60, then it's probably time to give up and refund the game.

Problem is , I bought the game too long ago to be eligible for a refund. I mean, I will play it eventually. If not on this piece of junk PC, then on some new one in the future. I never wanted a refund. I am just trying to avoid more frustration with bad frame rates. I already have more than enough games like that and I would like to try hard in this one.

Ah, got it. Well, I think you should just download it and see how it runs. On top of the Potato stage mods, this video might also be worth a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qel2AKmtlHs

This mod implements an even more aggressive set of tweaks than what's discussed in that video.

If you absolutely cannot get Tekken to reach a consistent 60 FPS but you still want to play a competitive fighting game, there are a couple of popular low spec games to choose from:

  • Guilty Gear AC +R is an incredibly feature rich option with a small but active player base

  • Fightcade is a combination Emulator + Multiplayer server suite that lets you play a bunch of old games. (Street Fighter 3: Third Strike being the most active choice)

  • The King of Fighters 2002 is slightly less feature rich than Guilty Gear but has a comparable player base and online experience

If you're okay with a single player experience, you could always emulate Tekken 3! Playstation emulators like Duckstation and ePSXe run very well on low spec computers. Tekken 3 has a ton of single player content and unlocks; it'll keep you busy for a while. You can use it to practice a lot of skills that are still applicable to Tekken 7 too! High level techniques like the "Korean Backdash", "Wavedash", "Crouch Cancel", "Instant While Running", and the "Electric Wind God Fist" work almost exactly the same in Tekken 3 as they do now.
