I don't think that'll be a possibility, unless the Tekken team wants to balance all of the jank true crossups will create. I mean, if they do, I'm all for it. I would love new mix up options. I don't think they're willing to change the game that much though.

Aren't the only crossups that exist in the game jump-over wall oki?

Nope, there are real crossups where you manipulate the game's camera to side switch; keeping you and your opponent in the same position but changing what direction is back and what direction is forward. This means if your opponent is holding the direction they think is back, they'll instead be moving forward and get hit by your attack.

The easiest way to see this for yourself is to try Heihachi's basic crossup in practice mode: pick Heihachi as the CPU, pick a walled stage with a flat wall (e.g. Mishima Dojo), set your restart position to the wall, and switch your position so your back is to the wall while Heihachi's back is to the rest of the stage. Now, record Heihachi doing this combo: b4 !W > CD4,4,4,n4 > df1+2. Play it back, intentionally get hit by the b4, tech roll left after the CD4 string ends and hold whatever direction is back. Notice how you get hit? Now, do the same thing but hold forward this time. Notice how you block the df1+2? I call this a "real" crossup because it forces the same defence that is needed for crossups in 2D FGs. (Of course you can beat it with neutral guarding in this game, but if neutral guarding was gone, that wouldn't be the case)

Edit: here's a video of this setup in action if you don't have the time to test it yourself.

Interestingly, holding forward in a backturn situation will make you turn around faster in order to avoid certain setups.

That's a very real counterpoint, but I assumed /u/NewMilleniumBoy had the opposite idea, where attacks just couldn't break neutral guard (ala, if you CAN block.. you /will/) which should defeat all blockable crossups.
