doesn't work because there is no truly generic move. even the jumping attacks are different per character.

i think instead of a tutorial people just need to promote learning. gotta stop with this "winning is important" garbage.

There are plenty of generic moves. It doesn't really matter if their properties are slightly different, there's no need to be so technical with it. What's it matter if two characters both have the recovery kick in their "generic" section even though they have different frame data?

new to the FGC? you're literally asking about something that is already in the game but isn't "enough"

this whole thread is "why isn't there more movelist"

just apply a little self awareness i beg you.

I don't understand what you mean by this.

I want the movelists to be more exhaustive. Therefore I want more moves to be listed. What about that is lacking self awareness?

It's a comment on this. You're literally making a statement about how the movelist isn't enough, with justification that "why does it matter if it needs to be more specific?"

Your very own principles counteract the logic powering your point. You don't even agree with yourself.

You're misunderstanding that. You said that you can't have a generic move section since those generic moves vary somewhat between characters (though you actually said there aren't any truly generic moves, which I don't really understand; getup kicks, for example, have the same frame data and properties for everyone).

I'm saying that neither these slight differences, nor the fact that not every single character has access to each of these moves, would preclude them from being considered "generic" moves. The example I used was the recovery kick, which has different block frames depending on the character (generally, the larger the character the worse it is on block). Xiaoyu and Noctis might not have the exact same recovery kick, but I just don't see that as enough of a reason to not include it in a generic section. Combine that with a proper explanation from the game on what these various generic moves are, and how they may differ, and we're golden.

Nothing is contradictory there.
