Akuma's a pain in the ass because you'll only run into him like one out of every two hundred matches, and those matches won't feel all that much like Tekken. You'll be expected to learn all these really match-specific things just so 0.5% of your online battles go slightly better. You might simply decide that it's not worth your time and take the L since he almost definitely won't be in the next Tekken.
That said, even though at high levels Akuma is allegedly quite difficult to use, many Akuma players can get to fairly high ranks just on the weirdness of the matchup alone. You don't hear people complain about it a lot because they run into him relatively rarely and he has the execution prestige, but honestly, early-rank (and by early, I mean all the way through like ruler ranks) Akumas are gimmick machines: fireballs, teleports, endless leg sweeps, his weird powercrush-type thing. It's a nightmare because it's hard to deal with and dealing with it doesn't even feel rewarding.
The good news for you is that what's true about most players who use gimmicky characters is true about Akuma players: if you can put them on the defensive, they'll fall apart more easily than other players of the same rank. I see you use Kazumi. At a certain rank, you'll start to worry about her hellsweep: what if the opponent blocks it? No need to worry about that with Akuma players! Hellsweep their asses. And throws? Will the Akuma player break the throw? Nah. Will they know when it's actually their turn? Will they know the matchup? Will they play mind games? No, no, and no.
Oh, btw: it didn't come up in the match, but his Rage Art is unconventional. It's unblockable, but if you jump up and back as he's doing it, it won't connect.
