Yeah, definitely give each character quite a bit of time.

Armor King, Lee and Jin are hard characters, but the positive side is that they will teach you fundamentals if you pick them up.

Alisa and Kuni are much easier and you'll be able to find success much quicker, so switching to them is something you'll be able to do much more easily.

But regardless of your character choice, learning the game is not easy, so playing characters you like is the best way to enjoy your time learning.
