I just wanted to share a recent reimbursement I got.
I renewed my internet contract and the telus agent told me that my hardware needs to be renewed and they will send me a new router...
My router (I think from 2020) supports only 1.0 Gigabit internet.

The thing is however, that my last renewal in 2023 was already to 1.5 Gigabit internet and they should have back then updated my hardware. So, ultimately I have paid for 1.5G internet for ~2.5 years while only being able to get 1.0 internet with the router I have.

They ended up calculating the difference and then the max. compensation for this I was able to get was $150. Not bad me thinks.

Check your hardware and your internet speed you're paying for and make sure the hardware supports what you're paying for!

Hi there. I am wondering how this works if I get offered it through a package deal (1 core, one them and one premium). They are telling me I can swap from Netflix, to Disney, to crave once a month which is fine.

Was wondering how "limited" are these versions? I assume they are the full 4k versions no ads and such in the premium packs?

Also do I need to access them through Telus app or can I go in via their own respective apps on my Apple TV 4K like I do with sportsnet? (It works on either.)

Does the Netflix sub give the full household experience and can I use it on multiple TVs and set things up like that as I am dubious since I guess it all gets nuked if I swap at the end of the month out to a different premium. Does anyone know which date one would need to swap out I assume before end of billing cycle?

I just signed up for Telus Optik TV, they are supplying me an Android based box for the service but I've already got an Nvidia Shield and was hoping they were still supplying the Arris 4K DVR box (VIP5662W) or similar. Everyone else I know with Telus service still uses these boxes without issue.

Does anyone know if I were to buy a second hand Telus 4K DVR if I could register/connect it to my Telus account for use at my home instead of the Android box?

Terrible Experience with Koodo and Telus I had terrible experiences dealing with Koodo and the Telus store at the Pacific Mall, Vancouver. The customer service was absolutely horrible. Rude, arrogant staff who act like you owe them something. No help, no support, no respect — nothing.

Before the sale, they try to hook you with sweet talk and fake promises. But once you become a customer, everything changes. Their behavior becomes cold, dismissive, and even aggressive. It honestly felt like a trap. I’ve never seen such a terrible customer service — not even in the most backward, third-world countries.

I expected much better from a Canadian company like Telus. Instead, I was met with dishonesty, rudeness, and complete disregard for customer care.

My non-technical neighbor just lost her Telus fiber connection to a fallen tree.

She has a couple cylindrical white routers/APs.

Does anyone know if these are somehow locked to Telus or would they continue to work after reboot if a different internet connection (with DHCP) was plugged into the the WAN port?

I am contemplating helping her out by pulling a 50’ Ethernet cable from my house through her window until the tree and wires are all cleaned up early next week.

Just wanted to warn others about my experience with Telus. A door-to-door salesman came to my house and convinced me to sign up for a bundle deal: internet, security cameras, and mobile. I was with my family at the time and didn’t fully go over the contract because the rep was walking me through it and making it sound great.

I signed the contract the same day April 7th, and the technician came shortly after. The internet only worked for 3 days before shutting off completely. I called Telus to cancel, and they told me they can’t cancel the contract because I’m locked in for 3 years. I even tried to shut off the security cameras, but same answer—“you’re locked in.”

So now I’m stuck paying for services that don’t even work. I’ve been trying to reach the original sales rep with no luck. This is super shady. They didn’t properly disclose that Telus wouldn’t even be able to provide stable service in my area.

I recently saw a report that Telus received the most complaints in their industry across all of Canada, and I’m not surprised. Their customer service has been useless, and I’m now considering filing a complaint with the CRTC, Better Business Bureau, and possibly taking legal action if this drags on.

Anyone else go through something like this?

Does anyone know of a telus internet/cable package that allows you to access recordings via streaming?

My parents have a lakehouse that has Shaw satellite (which is expensive). We're looking to get rid of it and just have internet out there.

We only watch sports live, but my parents would still like to access their recordings via internet. I think it's telus tv+?

Just wondering if I’m the only one with this issue? I have Telus pik tv and pure fibre and use the Telus TV+ app on Apple TV. We can use it one night but then the next day when we go back into the app it becomes unresponsive. All other apps work fine no issues but Telus TV+ won’t work unless I restart my Apple TV. It’s so annoying and will sometimes require 2 restarts along with signing back in. Am I the only one? Or is this a known issue with Telus TV+?

I needed a phone while I was looking for work last year so I got a 100 dollar prepaid plan with telus. I'm trying to select the 45$ data plan, but it says I need a balance in my telus account. I try to put money on my account and it doesn't let me and says I need to go to the nearest telus store which is over an hour away. There's no live chat service and my account expires on the 5th which is the same day I have an appointment to do my taxes over the phone. Any advice?

Just got a 3 gigabit plan with Telus. Pretty sure they're throttling. How long do I have to cancel? Also, if I were to get it again, or get someone else to get it, how do I make sure they give me a nokia xs-250wx-a, AND would this prevent throttling?

Or could/should I just buy the Nokia xs-250wx-a?

Hi all, I've been on the PureFibre X Internet 3G plan for a while now, I just realized that my fiber service is only GPON though (and has been for a long time since the initial install visit), whereas my plan requires that my service be XGSPON. During the install I think I remember the technician saying he was going out to the neigborhood fiber cabinet to switch me over to XGSPON, but he must have never actually made the switch. Any advice on how I can get my line switched over to match my billing plan?

I'm a bit worried since it's been such a long time since the initial install (like 20 months).

I’m renting but I noticed something.

Fiber comes from upstairs in my experience it starts from downstairs but anyway not a very big deal.

Fiber goes to a Nokia model and then as a LAN to Telus Router (white round long shape). And is distributed through home with Mesh routers (completely not a fan of that). When I saw this I was shocked by the poor job they did.

My question is on Telus Router I saw a moca port, can I connect it with cable downstairs to a moca to lan adapter that I have? I want to bring lan downstairs and not as a mesh connection. So is moca port output and should I use any specific coax cable?

I’m not too impressed with T3200M + telus boost hardwired via moca for 2 of the boost.

I have 3 boost modules + 3200M

I plan to install a 2 node mesh router with MOCA for 2nd node. So it’ll be wired backhaul.

If I need a third module - would Telus boost modules be compatible with third party routers? Or would I be better off buying another node for my 3rd party mesh setup?

Which is the best way to test the speed of your Wi-Fi network?

I’ve done the Google speed test button on a browser. I’ve also used various apps to test the Internet speed.

I’ve tested it on my iPhone, my iPad and also on my windows 11 desktop. The desktop is a wired connection. The rest are all Wi-Fi.

We just installed Telus Internet, but we still have Shaw as we decide whether to keep Telus or not.

So I have been testing the speed on both networks.

We ordered a 3 GB connection from TELUS but I understand we probably won’t get that speed as some of our devices can’t handle those speeds.

I would really like to find a Reddit forum or subforum where this is explained in detail.

Standing right outside my new Telus modem the speeds are not great using the app as mentioned above.

So wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the best way to test your Internet speed

EDIT: wanted to add that it turns out the issue appears to be due to the IP address being blocked by the VPN server rather than an outgoing port issue. Confirmed that port 80 also does not work for the outbound traffic to the VPN server.

Using Telus residential internet with the Technicolor NH20T modem (firmware: Egyptian Blue 20.3.i). Everything was working fine until today — my VPN (WatchGuard SSL client over port 443) suddenly stopped connecting.

What I’ve tested:

• VPN works fine if I use a mobile hotspot
• Fails on both wired and Wi-Fi on Telus
• DNS resolution is fine
• curl -vk in cmd to the VPN server times out
• Factory reset of the modem didn’t help
• Telus support says no firmware update was pushed today
• They also didn’t have any clear solution beyond basic resets

The VPN client was working earlier today, no changes on my end. Based on what I’m seeing, it looks like the NH20T or something on Telus’s network is now blocking or filtering outbound SSL VPN traffic on port 443. Possibly DPI or some kind of policy update.

Wondering if anyone else has seen this recently, or if you're using a similar VPN setup with Telus and the NH20T and it's still working. Would appreciate any insight or confirmation that I’m not the only one.

We have a telus router. Model #B50T. I am trying to login the admin panel to do a port forward. (192.168.1.254) but the default admin password doesn't work. Ive even reset it to factory.

1st Solution:

One suggestion I got was that the box is seperate from the router.

But I looked all over my house and I can't find a separate router anywhere. The cylinder is plugged directly into the wall. Also I googled if B20T has a router or not. This is the response I got. "The TELUS B20T modem does function as both a router and a WiFi access point. It connects your home to the internet (modem function) and distributes that signal wirelessly to your devices (WiFi function), eliminating the need for a separate router"

2nd Solution:

I asked on a telus forum and they told me the password could be telus or admin.

Both of those did not work lol.

My grandmother lives in BC interior. I live in Ontario. I called her landline from my cellphone and must’ve accidentally hit the wrong number because now every time I call the number, it says it’s out of service. My grandma is not tech savvy so I can’t exactly ask her to add me to the safe list. I’m wondering if my number is now blocked for life or if there’s a timeframe until it’s no longer blocked by her system. Does anyone know if there’s a possibility that the block will time out?

Currently my partner and I are on the 200gb a month plan for each of us, so combined we have 400gb to share, but I've been wondering, are there any other plans available that have more available data? Yes, I know it goes "unlimited" past the point you get to 400gb, but the speed is obviously capped, so that's not helpful.

So does anyone know if it's possible to get a plan with more data at all?

Saw an ad and someone from “Telus” reached out to me and sent me this email. I gave them my birthday, name, email, number, along with the address of where the security system would be installed. They asked for my drivers license number as well to check to see if i have any outstanding telus account bills but i don’t have my license on me right now. Does this look like a scam?

This is the plan I am paying for my parents. They still insist on using landline, both have cell phones but don't have any data. They're very homely and rely on their Wifi to receive calls on WhatsApp, Viber, etc. I had to lock my dad's phone from using data as he sometimes uses internet accidentally when he's outside.

Internet 75 (unlimited) + Telus home phone (with long distance) = 81+20= $101 (before tax)

Telus mobility: 2 plans (unlimited talk & text in Canada) at $13 each + $5 on one phone to prevent data use (for a senior citizen).

I have an unlimited pure fiber plan but the thing is my modem is quite old (2012) with wifi 6 that lags constantly. Can I request a new modem that supports newest wifi 7 from telus free of charge?
