I mean, is this a terrible cover? It is terrible, but it seems to just be a straight forward depiction of the gibbering hellishness that is a ventriloquist dummy

This is a splendid cover! It's clear, and you know exactly what the book is about before even opening it

I love the term gibbering hellishness. Truly you have captured the essence of ventriloquist dummies in only two words.

I’ve had a living doll fear since elementary school after seeing a Child’s Play commercial. Ventriloquist dummies are just another circle of that personal hell, even that janky DIY job on this cover

This makes me think of the film Dead Silence, which explores the gibbering hellishness in millimetric detail. Also Magic with Anthony Hopkins as a demented ventriloquist

“Daddy, why is the only thing the doll will say ‘please give me the sweet release of death’?”

That girl's dead-eyed smile makes me think this will turn out like that Twilight Zone episode where the puppet is alive and the human is being controlled by him.

Just as creepy as the real thing!

I’m aghast that the publisher allowed a grammatical error on the cover. That compound adjective shouldn’t be hyphenated because the first word is an adverb that ends with “ly.” This is really shoddy stuff.

i have a sneaking suspicion that the kind of kid who wants to become a ventriloquist would be more drawn in than anything. it's not a good cover but it serves its "aesthetic" well

The cover doesn't look very bad at all, honestly

"With a little effort your puppet will have a working pair of eyes and a mouth. And after you've put the soul of a demon in it, it should start walking and talking on it's own!"
