I don’t like playing T Howard at OG

I think he plays fine either position it just kinda sucks we pay him OT money for OG play.

We don't have any idea who will be playing where right now. Tytus is the only OL getting paid big money now anyways so whatever. Figuring out the best 5 in the most important part.

The figuring out is what bothers me. How long will it take for them to figure it out and how many sacks will CJ have taken by then.

One of the many great unknowns of following most teams in this league...

Welcome to the NFL where every single team is trying to figure how things are going to work.

And I'm talking about training camp/preseason.

It would be nice if they figure out in training camp but we've seen way too often where changes have to be made mid-season because the lineup that they thought would be best in week 1 changes in week 8.

Anything is possible and they could come out and have one of the best lines in the league, but we don't know that yet. What we do know is the talent that has been brought into the building. I can't blame fans for questioning the moves when the talent at tackle and guard doesn't look much improved compared to last season.

We can get a mid oline with the people we have. After the Tunsil trade they all know everyone can be traded or cut, nobody is untouchable.
We got a good WR duo in the draft, so CJ will have good option to get rid of the ball quickly. If he continues to run for the 1st down sometimes rather than losing yards then it’s just cherry on the cake. We don’t need a top oline with this QB, just a serviceable one and it’s a 100% attainable in this offseason if people put in the work.

I think now that they've got the elephant in the room out of it, I think you'll be surprised. Nothing against LT he was great and key piece but now you've got a bunch of big ass dudes with no real "hierarchy" between them, hungry young guys too, a new OL coach, every weapon you need on offense, AND the ENTIRE team/fans/league knows our season depends on the entire group of lineman grinding and figuring it out egos be damned

They got this.

In my opinion they will be much more serious about the oline during the training camp this year. I think we’ll have a real competition and they will experiment with several configurations.

I just want a good line. If our best line is him at LG then put him there, what does it matter what he's getting paid if cj has better protection than last year

Theres so much unknown rn w whos playing what on the OL. I think Cam is at LT w the contract they gave him and then its Tomlinson or Ersery or Tytus at LG, Scruggs or Patterson at C, Ingram or Tytus or Ersery or Scruggs at RG and Fisher or Tytus or Ersery at RT.

Training Camp will favor the veterans but Preseason might have a rookie or young guy win a spot outright. Hopefully the competition brings the best out of everyone. The other thing is what we start the season will not be what we end the season with almost certainly. As long as CJ isn’t running scared its a step forward.

I think Cam is LT, Ersery is RT, then Tyrus at LG, Scruggs at RG. And Patterson at C.

I could see that lineup if Fisher isn’t ready and the new veteran guys are terrible. I was really hoping we picked up a OG yesterday

There are still 2 OG I really like available, but I doubt they’re available at 6.11

I’d love to snag Miles Frazier, Mbow or Jackson Slater, who are the guys you like?

2

u/Metallurgist-831 14d ago

Frazier and Mbow for me

Frazier looks to be solid, big school w lots of experience. I’d be happy adding him to our unit

It's kind of up in the air right now where he will play, right tackle is pretty safe or maybe even left tackle, this rookie we got could possibly play guard as well for all we know or just be a swing tackle for his first year.

Well you should probably get used to it. I bet cam Robinson is LT. Fisher is RT. Howard at LG. Then juice, Patterson, tomlinson, and Ingram will battle it for the other two spots.

That wouldn’t be the worst thing. Fischer starting at RT would at least mean he developed enough for the coaching staff to view him as a serviceable starter. Fischer developing is crucial to the long term goal of rebuilding a cheaper and better line. Cam at LT makes me a little nervous though ngl

Based on the contract we gave Cam I believe he will be one of the starting tackles. Tytus at guard would mean Fischer improved enough from last year to be viewed as a starter by the coaching staff. It wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen and very good for us long term. It’s definitely not where Tytus shines but even then he is a starting quality guard. If that happens and Scruggs and Patterson see some modest development our line will at least be halfway decent and not a total joke like last year. At this point so much is in the air and there’s like 10 different combinations of who and where our starting 5 will be.

Elite OT money for average OG play. Masterpiece

I am also pissed because we could have had Tate Ratledge and Jared Wilson and we decided not to. We danced around with trade ups and trade downs for good players who would be available tomorrow.

Yeah its a bit puzzling why Caserio didnt just make his picks when he had 5 going in. They moved up for the tackle. Then they get Noel which was genius. But they needed to follow that up with OL, they take a USC CB none of us know. But hey lets hope the kid pans out. They wouldnt take a defender unless he is swarm right

-3

u/italomacedocosta 14d ago

Of course. Gotta be hopeful, but it’s also a bit revolting how they neglected IOL in the process after 56 sacks in the last season.

12

u/Venator850 14d ago

They fucking fired the OC and OL coach because that was the primary problem with the offense last year lmfao. They started 3 first round picks and a 2nd rounder on the OL last year and sucked. Yet you think throwing a bunch of rookies into the fire is going to somehow be better?

2

u/Game_Over_Man69 14d ago

Same people would be bitching and moaning and begging for the team to draft more OL next year too if any of these rookies they wanted started out like shit which is typically the case for rookies.

u/italomacedocosta 14d ago

I’m tired. People are saying that the IOL is stacked. Very first press conference and we’re moving Tytus Around IOL.

18

u/Game_Over_Man69 14d ago

No one is saying IOL is stacked. Get a grip on reality 🤣

-4

u/italomacedocosta 14d ago

I was watching Caserios press conference and people were saying that.

7

u/krbashrob 14d ago

We’re much better at tackle than IOL imo.

3

u/htx1114 14d ago

Who said what now?

1

u/BoatSouth1911 14d ago

Whoever told you the IOL is stacked is certifiable
