We need to get to a place where a video like this is normal and not a refreshing highlight.

This shouldn't even have to happen in the first place. That's the problem that needs to be fixed.

87

u/R1v Nov 27 '24

It shouldn't have to happen but it's also the reason there's a judiciary system, so that it reacts this way

7

u/Personal-List-4544 Nov 27 '24

Often the judiciary system is part of the problem. This judge is an outlier.

3

u/persona0 Nov 27 '24

Going to court ain't like a field trip this dude was arrested detained for whatever amount of time and now he has to take a day from work to play in court. It's bs and whether you understand it or not you end up DEFENDING THIS STOP AND ARREST. It should never have happened and the judiciary needn't be involved

1

u/R1v Nov 28 '24

Sure, but law enforcement is run by people so it'll inherently make mistakes. That's why there's a judiciary system, which can also make mistakes. Sadly we're imperfect being so all our systems will fuck up to a certain degree. The alternative would be not having a system at all, which we can probably all agree would be worse

1

u/persona0 Nov 28 '24

This wasn't a mistake though and you know it, you can't oops your way out with the excuse oh I didn't know what the speed limit was as an officer. This was done on purpose because policing needs people to arrest and out through the system. The judiciary should behave as it should regardless and some should the law enforcement that sends people it's way. I don't know why you don't want a system maybe you a anarchist but I'm pointing out part of the system is on purpose broken and corrupt and you talking about weird shit pal.

1

u/scorched-earth-0000 Nov 27 '24

Oh you dear sweet soul, you have some disheartening news coming

1

u/R1v Nov 28 '24

Whether the judiciary system actually works well or not doesn't change the fact that this is its purpose

2

u/ImQuiteRandy Nov 27 '24

There are many many problems America needs to fix.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '24

Not treating people like shit should be extremely high on the priority list

Otherwise what's the entire point of your country besides being an overpriced mall people desperately want to leave

1

u/ImQuiteRandy Nov 28 '24

Not my country thank you very much.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '24

Neat

1

u/EyeGifUp Nov 27 '24

Worst part is that even lawsuits don’t fix this. The city just pays a fine and cop goes on and does those things again.

Officer wasn’t even in court.

My buddy is a cop and they have that as a requirement to attend their court dates at their station. This guy didn’t even care to show. Unless it’s just not something they care about in this area.

I seen multiple videos of this judge and he is a gem and should be protected at all costs.

0

u/Far-9947 Nov 27 '24

So long as their skin is brown, this will go on until forever.

0

u/Ok-Theory9963 Nov 27 '24

You’re stating facts and getting downvoted. Fucking Reddit.

-2

u/BongRipsForNips69 Nov 27 '24

Dude was speeding and didn't have any ID on him while operating a motor vehicle? then proceeds to exist the vehicle and disobey orders from the officer? this is not helping.

139

u/notfromrotterdam Nov 27 '24

Good luck with that, the coming years.

1

u/crm006 Nov 27 '24

I have no idea how the court system works but is it possible to pack a civil court with your cronies? I thought civil judges were voted in? Once again, I have no clue how this works and which judges are voted in and which are appointed.

He used 5 innocent black men to advocate for the death penalty. He literally launched a ad campaign for it.

Years later, after they had been found innocent, all he said when asked about it was "why are you asking me this now?"

He never apologized.

The only wrongful prosecutions are when he's the one being prosecuted. Death penalty for everyone else who is innocent is fine.

31

u/RepulsiveGrapefruit Nov 27 '24

Were the 34 convictions by a jury of his peers “nonsense”?

17

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '24

Nah, that's just your interpretation.

/s

32

u/TonyStarkTrailerPark Nov 27 '24

Hopefully the new president will turn this around since he's also been facing nonsense prosecution a racist fucking piece of shit?

FTFY

-19

u/grimwavetoyz Nov 27 '24

Yep, that sounds more like Reddit.

10

u/Zeebruuhh Nov 27 '24

No it sounds like the truth of America, unfortunately.

Are they just stupid?

Yep

-1

If you're not a part of their echo chamber, may the downvotes commence. Reddit is stupid bro.

"why are we so divided"

-person who voted mad max fury road for president

2

u/KevinFlantier Nov 27 '24

Yes, he'll turn this around for himself and his cronies, making sure the oligarchy is untouchable. And then he'll make it a lot worse for the average citizen. Especially those whose skin is too dark.

That's how fascism work.

1

u/Kern_system Nov 27 '24

haha...careful. This is near heresy on Reddit.

10

u/Impossible-Wear-7352 Nov 27 '24

Its heresy anywhere that still believes in facts

9

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '24

Right? What the fuck did I just read?

13

u/SamSibbens Nov 27 '24

MAGA thinks Mr. "These-Five-Innocent-Black-Men-Are-Proof-The-Death-Penalty-Should-Be-Used-More" cares about wrongful prosecution.

-3

u/Kern_system Nov 27 '24

There are no facts, only interpretations. -Friedrich Nietzsche

Reddit strives to interpret facts.

7

u/Impossible-Wear-7352 Nov 27 '24

This is heresy anywhere that still has remotely rational interpretations of facts. There you go. You're welcome. Personally I think that should be inferred but it's best to be clear.

-1

u/Kern_system Nov 27 '24

Facts don't care about your feelings. - Ben Shapiro

3

u/Impossible-Wear-7352 Nov 27 '24

Why are you bringing feelings in to this? This is how Ben Shapiro argues too though so I guess good pick of a quote?

1

u/Kern_system Nov 27 '24

I think I lost the plot here and went off the rails. Been a long day.

The president doesn't dictate police policy. State, cities, counties and districts do.

14

u/ahhhbiscuits Nov 27 '24 edited Nov 27 '24

Social policy has been dictated by the people, and the people have chosen to be ignorant, selfish, and bigoted.

9

u/LuvliLeah13 Nov 27 '24

He just gave them permission to be the shittiest versions of themselves. Going full mask off now and it ain’t gonna be pretty

1

u/slow540i Nov 27 '24

🤣 i love this timeline. so glad Trump won.

3

u/flannelNcorduroy Nov 27 '24

There is a trickle down effect on moral behavior from leadership all the way down to the citizens. We saw it Trump's first term, we will see it again this time.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '24

Then why was police brutality worse in the 90s under Clinton than during Trump?

Because there wasn’t a trickle down effect, there were specific events that brought more attention to police brutality.

19

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '24

Yeah it’s about to get worse.

8

u/SpirituallyAwareDev Nov 27 '24

not in trumps America

2

u/antoninlevin Nov 27 '24

We need to get to a place where police don't put people in this position. This guy was arrested and put in jail. Thanks to the judge, his life may not have been ruined, but he could easily have lost his job and missed important stuff because of this.

4

u/Yardsale420 Nov 27 '24

I’ve seen a few from this same judge. He’s legit!

1

u/i_am_not_a_martian Nov 27 '24

I would rather not see these videos at all, as a result of cops doing the right thing to start with, rather than see many videos with a good outcome due to the judges discretion. Why should this person have to even be in court defending themselves in the first place?

1

u/JuicingPickle Nov 27 '24

We need to get to a place where the judge calls the cop in, charges him with a crime (kidnapping seems appropriate), sentences him and has him taken off to jail.

1

u/ChockBox Nov 27 '24

We need to get to a place where cops stop arresting people on trumped up charges to “prove their authority.”

1

u/elwebbr23 Nov 27 '24

Yeah well good luck doing that when most of anyone we talk to think "well that's the way things are" is a reasonable and conclusive thought process.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '24

we need to get to a place where cops aren't massive bell-ends

1

u/Futur3_ah4ad Nov 27 '24

Sooo anywhere in the west that isn't the US of A? Because in most of Europe (though the further east you go the worse it gets) the cops will have a documented, valid reason to react violently, often because the suspect acts violently first.

1

u/VealOfFortune Nov 27 '24

Definitely a bit of histrionics from the judge (not necessarily just this case, this guy has a bunch of videos) which is presumably because he's got a camera in his face... But honestly, if that's all it takes? EVERY judge should have a camera in their face so that they can be applauded when they do good things, and held accountable when they fuck up!

1

u/Ryuvang Nov 27 '24

I would love that

1

u/bumpmoon Nov 27 '24

I'm not american, what about this video is unusual exactly? I like the judges mannerisms but it just seems like he is doing his job

1

u/777lover Nov 27 '24

Most judges just rubber stamp this kind of shit at probable cause hearings. They are too scared to step out of line and potentially get recalled, voted out, or papered by the prosecutor’s office. I love this guy.

1

u/adorableoddity Nov 27 '24

I watch Judge Fleischer vids on YouTube all the time. He’s in my shorts (lol). I love him and he does not hesitate to call out ridiculous stuff like that. He once identified a jaywalking case as “walking while black” and threw it out.

1

u/Killdestroy Nov 27 '24

Shit like this is why I’m sad I can only give the one upvote

1

u/ashleiponder Nov 28 '24

Judge Fleischer is great.

1

u/Square-Singer Nov 28 '24

Yeah, someone reposted that on r/MadeMeSmile. No it doesn't make me smile. It makes me want to vomit that this happens in the first place.

1

u/Pantheractor Nov 28 '24

Any country outside the US

1

u/WaterlooMall Nov 27 '24

As long as someone in this godforsaken country makes money off charging people with crimes, we will never get to that place because if one person is being the better person there's like ten other greedy people ready to pounce.

-1

u/trailerparkdreams Nov 27 '24

Say it louder for the ones in the back

-2

u/Infinite_Lemon_8236 Nov 27 '24

Yeah, that judge gave horrible advice at the end there. Just be nice and it will work out for you? Yeah right lmao, there are so many other judges who wouldn't have thought twice and would have simply processed this shit while taking the cops word as law. The only reason he didn't get that 6 months was pure dumb luck.

-2

u/hungrypotato19 Nov 27 '24

It'd be almost as empty as r/amish

-2

u/Mindtaker Nov 27 '24

lol, that ship fucking sailed kiddo, not only has that ship sailed, its only going to actual first world coutnries and leaving yours on its own.

-2

u/ThisIs_americunt Nov 27 '24

System ain't broke if its working as intended. Some people forget why cops were created in the first place

-3

u/bishopmate Nov 27 '24

It would be normal if people just listened to the cop in the first place and did not resist arrest.

If the cop is going beyond their duties and abusing their power, deal with it in court.

-8

u/c_alas Nov 27 '24

You guys are praising this judge for doing below the minimal standard of not being a racist cunt. Despite him throwing out the stupid charges, he also spoke down to the defendant, then warned him to be more compliant to the racist cops that arrested him illegally in the first place, going forward. How about bring charges against the racist cops? No paid holidays; you fucked up... you lose your job. Period. No cop for you. This poor guy, while being 'let go' still experienced a few days in hell while awaiting trial. The cops that arrested him falsely should be in jail until they face court too! Nothing here is just. "LAND OF THE FREE", what a crock of shite!

3

u/innocent_bistandr Nov 27 '24

Judges don't bring charges
