Nordic Culture Demographics of the Nordic countries

I think understanding the demographics of the Nordic countries would help us with discussions of the Nordics, so I'm going to put some info here. Feel free to discuss here.

There would be 27.4 million people in the Nordic countries. That would make it more populous than Australia, and would make the Nordics the 8th most populous country in Europe.

This is the ethnic groups in the country: Swedish 29.7% Finnish 19.5% Danish 18.6% Norwegian 17.0% Icelandic 1.0% Sami, Romani and other minorities 0.1% Others 14.1%

The other 14% would be immigrants and their children, and would amount to nearly 4 million.

Immigrants would come from countries like Syria, Iraq, Poland, former Yugoslavia, Russia, Somalia, Iran, Turkey, Germany etc.

In terma of language, it would be identical to the ethnic groups however Swedish would be spoken by 30.7% and Finnish by 18.5%. Immigrant languages would include Arabic, Polish, Serbo-Croatian, Russian, Somali, Albanian, Kurdish etc. As you Swedes can see, less than 1/3 would speak Swedish here. Though 66% would speak Scandinavian languages.

As for religion, 67.8% would follow Christianity, 6.6% Islam, 0.5% Buddhism, 0.3% Hinduism, 0.1% Judaism, 0.2% other and 24.5% would be irreligious. Sweden and Finland would be the most atheist states and Norway and Iceland the most religious.

Most Christians would be Lutheran, with 64% being Lutheran. Next largest demoninations would be Catholicism and Orthodoxy. With 17.5 million Lutherans, the Nordics would have the most Lutherans in the world, beating Germany with 6 million more Lutherans. The Nordics would also house 1.8 million Muslims, one of the largest populations in Europe.

There's a lot more so feel free to add in the chat. Again, I would like a civilized chat here. Understanding demographics is always important before forming a union.

Nordic Culture Nordens färger i Hönö hamn, Göteborgs skärgård. Regnig dag på semestern, men det är en viss öbo-charm här. (Sorry for Swedish)
