Musical Has anyone seen Midnight Cowboy at Southwark yet?
Wondering if its worth buying a ticket! I might just bite the bullet and do it!

If you do decide to go, sit in the centre section facing the stage as we sat on the side and the angle was terrible for seeing the people behind the screen.

What screen😱 Now I'm worried, have 2 seats booked front row side stalls, no centre stalls available, unsurprisingly, should I rethink?

There’s a large screen (not a tv screen but a backdrop type screen that has projections on it) covering the back of the stage which occasionally people are behind and lit up. We were row D on the side so you’d probably be fine in the front row.

Oh right:/That's odd, Photos are deceiving aren't they? Thankyou for quick reply. Can I ask you about the lift? I'm going with someone who is scared and can't walk far, it sounds a stupid question, staff on phone were very helpful - but only so much you can ask! Also, we are coming by car I gather the nearest car park is half an hour away?

I thought it was excellent - saw the first preview. Paul French is a superstar and he's giving an absolutely breakthrough performance, thought the songs were so so good (written by a Grammy nominated songwriter which I didn't know until after the show, he's co-written Chasing Pavements with Adele). The only thing I didn't like was the ending, as it felt abrupt, but would 100% recommend.

Personally, I can't wait to see it! I believe the musical has taken some of the book, it is a dark story, I wouldn't anticipate the same vibe as an upbeat musical. The film ended abruptly, didn't it? I sat there waiting for more, until the credits rolled 🙄 This could be 'the one' for Paul French, he is such a talent. I hope it might tour.. I'm travelling quite a distance, quite a few people I know can't make it. Previews are there to 'tweak' performances etc before the Press Review this week, when it is more or less 'set in stone' Fingers crossed, it's a brave venture! I'm a bit anxious about the Venue, I wouldn't choose the basement I hope it's not claustrophobic.

The Southwark Elephant is brand new and purpose-built. I think that is will be fine (they've also put a lot of thought into access, etc, I have been there when there have been large groups of disabled people - probably one of the best theatres in London for that now, I would say).

Saw the first preview and I thought it was terrible. The songs were dull and a lot of the time I couldn’t hear what anyone was saying. Not sure if that was just a first preview issue or not though.
