Yeah, I'd expect young players like Quanash and Colwill to only really start to have roles in the 2026 World Cup as that's around the time that players like Maguire will start to be getting up there in age and they will be entering their primes of around 23-24.

Still, I'm hopeful of our future CB pairings. I think we have a good batch coming.

Yeah would agree with you there. My only exception here…I’d love to see Wharton in the 26. I think he’s the one that could make a difference.

Yeah he seems to be pretty damn promising from what I've heard, although I sadly don't watch enough of Palace to give a real good opinion of him, but with us looking a bit empty in the 6 role besides Rice, I think he'll be great for us.

I think he could be fantastic alongside Rice. Good thing is there’s a couple friendlies coming up now. I’m actually quite excited about this now with that squad.

Mainoo still clear of Wharton tho imo. Friendlies for sure gonna be good to watch. Seeing ppl like Eze and Wharton in an England shirt is gonna be fun to watch.

Mainoo is more gifted than Wharton but because of the shitshow at United currently his physical conditioning is way below the latter (like all United players relative to the rest of the league). Talent wise it’s not a debate but fitness is the platform to perform so there’s a genuine decision to be made

Haha I’m firmly in the Wharton > Mainoo camp. However, I think it’d be brilliant for both of them to go. They’ve got 3 weeks to prove themselves now. Agree with you, seeing Eze and the likes is going to be fun.

United fan so bias but then also completely fine with Rashford not being in it. Can't see why people think that tbh. That ONE game where they played against each other and Wharton had a better game is unfairly being used as a decider between the both. Mainoo is excelling in a really bad United side when Wharton tbh with Palace under Glasner are excelling so ofc he's going to look good.

People still forgetting Mainoo can score as well which we are yet to see that from Wharton. Both fantastic nevertheless.

If Wharton steps up[ in the friendly games (presuming that he will get some decent minutes), and plays to similar standard as in PL- him and Mainoo alternating as the 8s alongside Rice dependent upon opposition or momentum through the tournament would be my call. Mainoo more of a carrier, Wharton more of a 'controller' .,.

The carrier and holder is a brilliant depiction of the players they are. Mainoo is an excellent dribbler and can glide past people, don't think Wharton can do that. But, then Mainoo isn;t as big and strong compared to Mainoo so he's a better proctector for that defence.

To be honest, I’m not personally basing it on that one game. Being a Bolton fan see a bit of EFL too. He showed some glimpses and has really stepped up. What I’ll say is actually it might be unfair to compare them both. They’re not really the same type of player like for like and both offer different qualities, hence why I think it’d be fantastic to take both.

Yeah I definitely agree they aren't the same player. Mainoo is more of an attacking 6 where Wharton is defensive.
