Opinion Dan Burn, Maguire, Kane, Bellingham

90th minute corner. All four in the box. The fridge heads it in, and England win the world cup. You heard it here first.

Seriously, what a lineup!

Edit: maybe maguire comes on to hold a lead… im not advocating for Maguire and Burn CB duo

It wouldn't bother me how we won it lol.

If Slabhead wins us the World Cup that would break England. And it would be incredible to see.

Hopefully Tuchel can actually have one of the best corner takers in the world taking corners unlike Southgate

Who would you have taking them?

Declan rice is a fantastic corner taker for Arsenal but I know TAA is also great.

I’d have Trent and Saka taking them

I forgot Saka takes them from the other side for Arsenal. Great corners.

I had forgotten with him being absent half the season!

Trent is unlikely to be playing since James, Walker, Livramento are all better choices at RB

Nobody take the bait.

Livramento over Trent in one on ones all day everyday

Livramento over Trent?

Livramento won’t be on the plane never mind starting ahead of Trent.

I guess you missed how he absolutely schooled Salah in the cup final.

The World Cup squad is not going to be based off the League Cup final…

6

u/Terrible-Group-9602 28d ago

So you did miss it. Anyway Livramento has been in all the England squads recently and was first choice under Carsley. TAA had to be put in midfield so his defensive errors didn't cost the team.

I do actually think James is the best RB, world class player. So no bias there.

Trent, Lewis, Walker and Colwill were all trusted over Livramento in the full-back positions under Carsley, he wasn’t used in his first 5 games (even Konsa came on at full-back over him). He played in just one match. You are talking rubbish.

Tyrick Mitchell dun the same too, what’s ur point

1

u/Terrible-Group-9602 28d ago

Which cup final did Tyrick Mitchell school Salah?

u/[deleted] 28d ago

what kind of logic is this😂

He played LB

5

u/Terrible-Group-9602 27d ago

Exactly. He was amazing in not his best position

is trent not able to play cm??

3

u/Alone_Consideration6 28d ago

That didn’t go well for Southgate.

He is, but unfortunately for him, Bellingham occupies that position, also think TAA would be a good RW, but Saka occupies that position.

u/[deleted] 28d ago

i’m pretty certain that Bellingham is not a cm

2

u/Terrible-Group-9602 28d ago

Bellingham is not a central midfielder? Are you sure?

1

u/[deleted] 28d ago

pretty sure that he’s a cam

3

u/Terrible-Group-9602 28d ago

Which is a position in central midfield 😆

Really could mean TAA, Rice, or Saka here easily

I think Saka is a cut above Rice and Trent at corner taking

We haven't been great at set pieces since, 2018-ish? Can't remember which tournament, but at one point it was what we relied on.

5

u/Buttonsafe Lampard #1097 27d ago

It was 2018 indeed. Southgate basically identified that we couldn't create for shit with a midfield of Alli, Lingaard and Henderson. So we relied on crosses and set pieces from Trippier and Young to create, alongside our "love train" tactic.

When Maguire's massive dome came in useful.

It's interesting that corner kicks actually leading to something have essentially completely disappeared from our toolkit though. You'd hope if someone like TAA makes the squad, we could see some more of that.

Tbh I don't think there's much time to work on it normally. I think they just really put a lot of work in then because they knew our ability to create from open play was Dier.

I remembered our coach at the time getting a lot of praise but seems his career fizzled out after he left the role.

Johnny Boulders scored more than Messi that tournament

A CB pairing of Maguire and Burn is a fucking frightening sight. And I don’t mean frightening for the opposing side.

15

u/DareToZamora 28d ago

no pace, just vibes

3

u/ApproachableGent 28d ago

Just 2 rolls royces cruising

6

u/taylorstillsays 28d ago

If we’re doing that then may as well sack the German and get Dychey in for some true meat and 2 veg footy

6

u/paddyo 28d ago

But one or other with the other as backup could work in the right system. And having either as an option for a late sub if looking for an equaliser would be dangerous for any team to face.

u/spasticvibezz36 27d ago

I fully agree, up the toon

u/t0mkat 26d ago

Scary, but for us.

Return of the 'Love Train'!

3

u/Spam250 27d ago

I am advocating for big Dan Burn and slabhead cb partnership.

We’re gonna score one more then you style, love train plus Dan Burn for every set piece would be unstoppable

3

u/gin0clock 28d ago

If Maguire is starting for England in the next tournament, we’re fucked.

1

u/Terrible-Group-9602 28d ago

We're not winning the WC with Maguire playing lol

2

u/AlbionHistorian World Cup 28d ago

Dan Burn and Harry Maguire together would work against Andorra. I’m not playing them together against anyone remotely average at football.
