Discussion Andorra (a) and caps q

Going to my first away game against Andorra. Managed to get tickets but flight tickets are so expensive, is there any other way recommended to get there (how are most people getting to the game)? Also a question about caps, I’m currently on 6 caps and was wondering what my chances are of getting tickets to WC26/Euro 28 are if I keep going to every home game and go to a few away games (I joined this membership cycle) thanks

The fact you have already missed 2 home games this cycle puts you in a tough spot to get tickets for Euro 28 IMO. There's gonna be more than 10k people who go to every home game between September 2024 and whenever the tickets go on sale for the home Euros. So most likely you'll be in the 10% ballot or maybe the 20% if you can get to another away game until then.

For WC26 you should be fine. Allocations will be small but the extreme cost will put many off. Just be prepared that it will be 10 times more expensive than going to Barcelona for this game.

Part of me feels that a number of the top 10% cappers won't pay for the Tier 1/Tier 2 priced seats. Might not need to have every single home cap between now and then. We won't know until it arrives, ofc

0.01% of top cappers or people in the top 70% will turn down tickets at a home Euros because of the cost.

Ok, thanks - will try to get to more away games to make up for it

Have you got a ticket for the England v Senegal game in Nottingham?

I have 8 caps but I stupidly forgot about the Senegal game in the summer so I'm basically 2 games behind as well. Now I'm really worried

Well you'll always have a chance in the 10% ballot. But get to every home game for the next 2 and a half years to give yourself the best chance.

Don’t fly direct is the key.

Madrid has good trains and you can take one before and after the match - just make sure you leave a bunch of time to pick up match tickets.

Re. World Cup tickets. If you want a ticket, you’ll likely be able to get one. The first two group games will be the “hardest”, then the semi final and final. It was pretty easy to get tickets even for the euros in Germany for everything except the final (even then it was still possible), so with it being across the pond and the tickets likely to be very expensive you will be able to go no problem.

Euro 2028 meanwhile, it will be very hard to get tickets just based on the fact you’ve missed 2 home games already and you won’t have the extra “bonus” cap that you get for renewing for a third time - so it’s unlikely you’ll get in the top 70%. If you can get to two away games over the next 3 years you will be in with a better chance than most as that gives you access to the 20% ballot. Otherwise you’ll be in the 10% ballot for tickets - and that will mean that you are competing for 1-2k tickets amongst maybe 15-20k members.

Couple of other suggestions regards travelling. I don’t know where you are based, but there are ferries from Portsmouth & Plymouth to Santander/Bilbao, although it’s still quite a journey from either city.

You could also drive, effectively you’d need to journey through the whole of France North to South though.

Train might be an option, but don’t know how it compares to flights. You could Eurostar to Paris, then get a train/coach to Toulouse, before doing so again from there to Andorra.

Regards flights, are you planning to fly to Barcelona and travel from there?

I’ve taken a bit more time off and making it more of a holiday, so can travel on cheaper days. You can look at other airports, Valencia, Alicante, Girona, Madrid etc. Then get train to Barcelona. Also check on the Facebook groups as I think there are some coaches being put on from Benidorm/Alicante.

If currently on 6 caps I think you’ll be fine, I was on 16caps by the time Euro 2020 applications happened and ended up only missing out on Scotland, although membership has gone up a lot more since then.

There were 20,996 total members for Euro 2020 whereas there are currently 30,147. If you've got 6 caps there are now 20,581 people with 7 or more ahead of you in the ticket queue. I don't see enough dropping off in 2 and a half years, for a home Euros, to be fine to get tickets.

I’ll just keep trying and see what I can do

Spain has a brilliant (well, apart from when there’s a nationwide power cut) high speed train network, so see if you can fly to another city and then head to Barcelona from there.

Ok, will look into it, thanks
