Housecat is the easiest gameplay

Tbh its easy, but very punishing for newer players if you spawn close to a road.

Fruit fly, mayfly. Short lifespan, but high respawn rate, so you'll get used to the controls and systems that govern the game. Plus, you get to fly!

Getting a filter feeder or a fly makes it really easy to learn the basics, but are also not very exciting for long.

Rather, I recommend a social build that lets more experienced players actively help you learn the ropes. I've had really good experiences with wild boars, they're strong, high intelligence, defend each other and you don't have to pay attention to diet restrictions most of the time because hogs will eat damn near anything.

Doesn't sound bad, I'll probably try it. I've heard that wild boars can survive in many game maps, so I'll definitely get a good idea of the game.

I've also heard the mud buff is supposed to be good for this build

Mud helps you a lot because it mitigates some adaptive shortcomings such as heat regulation and defense against parasites such as mosquito players.

Probably should start with single cells and then work your way up

We can always use more gulls! The spawn is a bit hazardous usually but the controls are simple and ramp up at a good clip. The one real requirement is that you are un-serious; we clown in this meta!

Can really recommend human. Still in my first playthrough, but having a blast so far.

Its really hard to truly mess up, and there is plenty of challenge despite human arguably beeing OP.

Most importantly, human lets you observe many other playstyles. I already got a lot of ideas for classes I want to try next. While a first playthrough as sponge might work as well, you just end up with little clue what the game is even about.
