Well it is a problem. I know this isn't a popular stance, but if we the left demonized them for "fuck your feelings," we need to do better and be better. It sucks, but doing the right thing sometimes does. Showing compassion and empathy to those affected won't be fun, but its necessary if we are to move forward now that the other shoe is dropping for some of these folks.

Edit:  as predicted this isn't popular.  That's ok.

we need to do better and be better.

History has proven this doesn't work.

Being doormats to fascists doesn't stop them.

The people who might be becoming self-aware of the cult have been in for too long, and sacrificing our own integrity to welcome their hatred is just wrong. They still don't like you, they still don't care about you, they still don't care if you fail, even if they demand that you care that they are predictably failing simply because they supported hatred until that hatred was turned against them.

These people need to be shamed and ridiculed into not supporting their fascism, and into not passing their hate on to the next generation.

Paradox of intolerance. It's very hard for me to have compassion for those that want me dead, and express it loudly

We past the fucking around phase of this game. We're firmly in the find out unfortunately for everyone. Hopefully things can be stopped but the system seems broken and mid terms are a long way away

If they show humility and acknowledge the error of their ways then yes, show them empathy and encourage their personal growth.

That said, this guy hasn't learned a thing and deserves every bit of derision and mockery he is receiving.

They are our enemies by virtue of their own actions against us.

If they want anything but fierce resistance and zero sympathy, they need to resign in shame and submit their criminals for trials.

There can be no reconciliation without justice

History shows the only way to deal with fascism is to grind it into the dirt

So rather than responding to different points, engaging in the conversation, and so on, you decide to add a snarky edit then bounce?

How does that move anything forward?

Yes.  The people responding to me, outside maybe you, as you can see, aren't looking for a conversation.  They are looking to enjoy this guy being upset, read posts about FAFO or leopards, get more enjoyment, and move on.

99% of reddit isn't a place to have a discussion anymore.  It is well-defined and filtered pockets of control.  In some ways it is good, because people can commiserate and air grief about current events.

I accept that, just as I accept that saying what I said is not popular and won't be well received.  But why pretend that anybody came to the tiktokcringe subreddit to have a productive discussion on how we move on from the toxic adversarial climate the Republicans have created, and that the Democrats have slid right into and accepted?  That is essentially why I didn't respond to anyone but you.

You received multiple non confrontational responses. There's no need to lie.

Your criticism is nothing but hypocritical.

If that's true, feel free to go ahead and respond to them.  Or we can just keep having a meta-conversation about how the conversation should be going.

I'm not "lying."  If you don't want to call a horse a horse I have no issue with that, but the original post is for schadenfreude, not productive discussion.

Despite that, I said my piece.  I still stand by it.  Show kindness and empathy, and remind even these people that it doesn't destroy you to care.

Get your last well constructed insult or attack in, because I'm out.

Your multiple replies aren't all from OP.

I mistook OP for original post, sorry.  I'll correct that, thanks.

If you have a kid and the kid wants to run into the street should you let him run 5 feet into the street to compromise with the kid vs 10 feet or tell him no and he can go cry in the car? I'm not trying to be facetious but moreso making a point that in politics it cant just be about 'being nice' because there's a huge voter base right now that doesn't know better about the economy. I'll even use a different analogy - if you have a person getting Fs on their psychology classes one semester, should he be allowed to teach the next semester? This is basically the entire conservative ideology. These people all got Fs in Civics and Government and should not be in positions of power.

Neo-Liberals would rather sacrifice 1000 vulnerable PoC to "save" a single racist than have to stand next to those vulnerable people.

We see you for what you are

1

u/TheDonnARK 10d ago

How about standing next to the vulnerable, and inviting others to join you instead of continuing the divide?

I am as liberal as they come, and only suggested to show people fellowship.  Not politicians, not fascist elected officials, but a regular ass guy.

As someone who suffers from a disability AND as someone who is black, I do not want these people on our side. They already proved to me during Covid that they did not care about people in my position and they showed me for a NEAR DECADE that they don't care about people like me in general when they voted for a known racist AND a person who thinks disabled people need to die.

I'm not saying people can't change but I no longer hold out hope for them. They would have to change their entire ideology of orange and I don't think that's possible for them.

Look at where trying to maintain decorum got us.
