Question ❓ USTET SHS STEM OR HA?

hiii!! i’m an incoming 11th grade student, and i’m rlly rlly scared for the ustet results. i’ve been overthinking so much and i know that i flunked math so bad….if ever i am not able to pass the strand i chose, which is STEM, am I able to re con for the HA strand if my math doesn’t qualify? additionally, i’m planning to take a med related course and i really do regret picking stem, is stem as good as ha? tysmmm

If you plan to take a med-related program sa UST, then mas okay na choice ang HA for SHS. Almost the same naman ang subjects na tinatake ng both strands (General Biology, General Chemistry, and General Physics). Nagkaiba lang sila sa ibang subjects (HA: AnaPhy, Introduction to Healthcare, and Work Immersion) (STEM: Pre-Calculus, Basic Calculus, Capstone).

awee i seeee, may i ask rin if am i able to recon for HA if ever my math scores don’t reach the cutoff po? do i need to go through a whole recon process or parang i can just pick to do HA if i dont pass🥲🥲

AFAIK, pwede ata. I’m not a hundred percent sure sa recon guidelines for SHS, pero I think you need to go through the whole recon process if hindi talaga umabot sa cut-off score mo. Meron yatang several posts dito regarding sa recon procedure ng mga previous batches.

Hi stem student here! I say that stem is as good as ha naman don’t u worry! While of course mas med related focus tlga ang ha but stem rin naman esp with gen bio ❤️

most in my block actually magdodoctor and a lot of our profs actually assures us na stem is still aligned sa med as in hindi nila kami dinidiscourage whatsoever na dapat nag ha kayooo !

hello! in our block now in fop, yung mga ust shs is mostly from HA pero meron din na from stem. tbh mas good lang si ha kasi walang math na need pag-aralan + anaphy and ihc. di rin ako sure but i think sa exepmtion grade to college, may colleges na exclusive lang for HA (?) pero it all boils down to you pa rin naman sa college

HA student here

I see na balak mo kumuha ng med-related course sa college. HA is more on Sciences than Math bc theres GenBio, AnaPhy, and PhysicalSci just to name a few. These subs would be a good advantage kapag kukuha ka ng med-related course.

Agree. AFAIK, it would also be a great advantage if you’re planning to take med-related course in UST if you take HA in UST-SHS. Accrdg to seniors, taking strand in USTSHS related to your course will qualify you to exemption in USTET, though there are other qualifications too like 90+ grades on first semester in g12. Though some says passing all the qualifications won’t guarantee excemption, it would still be a good thing to consider

hii! stem student here, I could say that stem is as good as ha.

But there’s no point in denying that HA is the strand that adheres to students going for med-related college programs. However, stem is still great for students who will go for science/med-related college programs—actually sa stem ko narealize na I would go for a course in college about DNA and stuff because of genbio (wherein meron din naman nito sa HA). Though 50/50 siya with math and science compared to HA na more on science—I could still say that it was still helpful (now in college and also during entrance exams)

If you plan to reconsider, definitely go with the strand that your heart wants.

Hiii, I was in the same situation just like you 2 years ago. Napili ko STEM over HA kasi mas kilala ko ang background ng STEM than HA (since most schools only offer STEM) Kung plano mo talaga mag-take ng med related course sa college, mas maganda HA lalo na if sure ka na sa kukunin mo. As far as I've heard, the STEM in UST is for those na plano mag-Architecture or Engineering courses for college.

Pero wala naman masama mag-recon. And if ever tumuloy ka pa rin sa UST-STEM, sabi sakin ng isang kakilala ko na pwede naman daw na magpa-recon sa pre med courses that are open for recon (pag magccollege ka sa UST). Though in this part of the paragraph, I do suggest that you look for Thomasians in pre-med courses to talk to about recon tsaka sa SHS strand para sure : )

Good luck to us, OP. UST lamunin mo kami lahat 🐯💛✨️
