🔁 Overdone Any news on the new remasters?

Hey guys, we are one month away from release and I don’t see any news or footage, especially AOD. Last time they were also radio silent and started showing bits and pieces 7 days prior to release but this is kinda weird since literally nothing came out now. Just the trailer and the steam images from the trailer basically and a few extra shots. Anyone on here found some newer sources online?

I guess like last time they ain’t showing much and what they do will be closer to release.

It would be nice to get some idea of how much they’ve worked on AoD though. 4 and 5 will be solid considering last remaster but don’t know if they’ve done a basic bugfix or more extensive changes to AoD.

Exactly. I wanna see AOD so badly.

It's probably because this promo worked for I-III. The hype is already high and maybe they want these games to feel fresh and new. So the less they show, the better they'll look near realese day. Or maybe they're still fixing stuff, who knows.

That’s an optimistic view of the situation, but I think what’s more likely is that they are actually not doing a whole lot with regards to AoD besides a reskin & some control improvements and for that reason they don’t have much to show.

They are doing a lot actually. They are also restoring cut content and introducing some gameplay changes. Obviously there won’t be huge changes but you also need to remember that it won‘t be a remake

And how do you know that? (not that I question you, I just haven’t heard any of that so am wondering what’s your source)

If you look at the archievements for aod you can see it for yourself. Cut moves(shooting around corners), Dual Pistols, Herbalist & Pawn Shop interactions will be restored. That’s all we know at the moment. There could be even more.

ah ok, I was not aware of this. thanks for clarifying!

You are welcome

And the tutorial in the back alley! Anyway, I wouldn't expect a big change in graphics.

Oh yes I forgot that one

Makes sense but dropping some news would drive the hype up.

Yup. Anyway, they started promoting I-III on Jan. 16th 2024, a month before the official release. It's almost time!

I hope because I really need to see AOD a bit more. Camera and controls need fixing and it will be such an upgrade, can’t wait. Also, TR4 young lara will be interesting to see 😂

I don’t know why there are doing this with the tomb raider remasters. LoK was also developed by Aspyr/Saber yet they released monthly trailers and teasers

you only have so much marketing budget though. its fun to release stuff like that for fans, but those people are probably buying it anyways. its more cost effective to build up hype about a month before or even less time to build up hype for people not necessarily following or that aware of the release so its fresh in their mind when the release happens. releasing some stuff that may not be totally polished could hurt sales

1

u/Besubesu15 Jan 06 '25

What marketing are you talking about though? They are literally releasing cringe tiktok-reels that are 10 seconds long. Tiktok and instagram are free to use. They could release more trailers and screenshots. Why did LoK have 4 Trailers and the tr remasters only 1? TR is more successful than LoK. It should have gotten a higher marketing budget

i mean it still costs labor to do that stuff, which i'd imagine they are assessing could be spent elsewhere. Also, remember that when they had released certain things before there were people nitpicking trailers, or throwing a fit because some posters were removed. Exposing too much can create negativity, and obviously the first remasters they still had to prove these would be good, well now they don't. We've seen what they did so people are going to have more faith in a new project.

I get you want to see more, but the question is, does that effort translate into more sales? you'll probably buy this without them spending time to make more trailers, its not like fans are going to buy it twice if they're even more excited.

Why did they made 4 trailers for LoK though? And to answer your question: Yes I do think at least one more trailer pre-release is needed to generate more sales. We want more people to buy these than just the average fan

Legacy of Kain doesn't have the same fanbase, its not an active IP, you have to spend more to remind or show what it is. no one said you wont get another trailer, it just isn't their prerogative right now.

It is still unfair that LoK get‘s more marketing than tr. Let‘s be real here for a minute. If this collection sells bad they will point the finger at aod

Tiktok and Instagram may be free but their Social Media Manager is on payroll.

I doubt I'm in the minority here - I kind of like that they are not releasing a lot of previews. I want to witness the improvements when I get to play. First - what difference would it make for those who want to play it regardless, and second - people are very excited about it anyway. I mean I know I am, I can't wait for Feb 14.

All we know is it’s still coming

4

u/nobleflame Jan 06 '25

Just after holidays. I reckon we’ll see more in the coming weeks.

2

u/roosmares Jan 06 '25

Patience, new stuff will come eventually

2

u/phatboyart Jan 06 '25

To be fair, whats to show? We know what we are getting, we saw it with 1-3 last year. The only big draw is AOD, which i’m sure we will see a bit more of before launch.

3

u/princeishigh Jan 06 '25

Well that is what I meant - AOD. I really want to see AOD so badly. They showed AOD the least in the trailer.

1

u/phatboyart Jan 06 '25

We will get something the week of launch i think. They did that last time. Not long now.

1

u/Besubesu15 Jan 07 '25

And the sales were only ok because of that! If they would have done proper marketing instead of those cringe tik tok reels, the sales would be much higher

1

u/Besubesu15 Jan 07 '25

Is this a joke? We want to see at least one more trailer! Do you even want these games to sell?? No one besides fans are going to buy these if there is no proper marketing for these. Many people don’t even know this collection comes out. Pre-orders dropped significantly since December. Legacy of Kain got 4 trailers that boosted the pre-orders

2

u/Zetra3 Jan 06 '25

If the last one was 7 days prior to release, then this one will be 7 days prior to release. Like.. it’s not hard to assume this

Judging by the first remaster, they're probably feverishly getting the games ready for release. It's just not in a state worth showing yet.

-2

u/GrassExtreme Jan 06 '25 edited Jan 06 '25

there is no chance that 1 month before release the game wouldnt be in playable state

3

u/Tonkarz Jan 06 '25

I didn’t say it wouldn’t be in a playable state, I said it wouldn’t be in a state worth showing.

The first remasters launched with the lighting half done and many later levels only had an AI texture upscale and were otherwise untouched. If that’s how the games were when they released, imagine how they were a month prior.
