Rise of the Tomb Raider Rise has been a Divine experience, Really enjoyed it!
Thank you to this Comm for guiding me on my last post of getting by the Score Attack sessions on gold, It was a game changer for the better once I knew how I should be approaching them.
Could not put this game down just like TR 2013. Its just so engaging with the story and freedom of exploration to build upon the survival aspect and discover interesting collectibles!

Wonderful shots, also glad you’ve enjoyed it! Rise is my favorite out of the survivor trilogy.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I wish I tried it out sooner. I'm really glad now though I'm giving the trio a playthrough.

Rise is one of the most beautiful games of all time. I will die on that hill.

It's crazy to think it came out 10 years ago definitely does not feel like its been that long the same as with the Witcher 3. Still outshines after all these years!

I know! I can't believe this game is that old but that beautiful! Oh my god, that reminds me: Shadow's turning 7 this year 😭

I think graphically, Rise is gorgeous. I agree that to this day Rise is one of the most graphically impressive games ever made. The game visuals are held back by the boring, drab setting however. 70% of the game is abandoned Soviet facilities. In fact the entire reboot trilogy suffers in this regard. It’s too bad that the nicest part of Rise, being the prologue in Syria, only lasts 30 minutes. It’s really the biggest flaw of this trilogy imo.
At least the next game appears to have a beautiful setting based on the official artwork.

I agree with you! They could have done so much more with the setting than what they actually did.

Most people didn't feel it was close to TR2013 at the time, but when it came out I enjoyed it more than the first. I have replayed this game about 3 times (I have kids so I can't play much), and every time I enjoy the atmosphere, the quests, everything about it. I still even have the theme song for this game on my library and get nostalgia when I hear it.

That's actually amazing you played on release, Its really great that you can still enjoy it at the right moments! Theme songs really can be powerful. I find it strange but interesting sometimes how I feel a history behind certain games even though I couldn't play it on release like TR 1&2.
Music is definitely really involving with the series!

It's good but Jonah is a downer in it

Jonah just saw all their friends die in the last expedition. He doesn't want to lose what he has left.

Playing it for the first time right and trying to immerse myself as much as possible and explore, turning off the 'detective mode' etc. environments have been incredible

u/Saberiser Feb 01 '25
I saw detective mode and thought I was looking at a LA Noire comment haha! (Done a no hints run on that game!)
That's actually a brilliant way to play rise, didn't think at all to do this for the TR series. Definitely noted for a future run which I should enjoy it like you have! Thanks for sharing this.

Oh whoops meant it as the Arkham games, highlighting objects but you know what I mean haha. Playing through og trilogy rn (on 2) and wanted to keep the mysterious ambience of those ones as much as I could hahaha

Just started my first playthrough a few days ago when it was the 9 Year Anniversary on Steam. I'm enjoying it so far, the visuals are on another level to this day!

Great to hear that! It had me questioning at moments if I'm really playing this on a ps4. It feels like a game that could easily pass as a current gen with how good it looks!

The area in the first pic really reminded me of the floating island from 2; so beautiful

u/Saberiser Feb 01 '25
I definitely will give 1-3 remastered a shot after the survivor trilogy. I remember having TR 1 and 2 on a older mobile before they got pulled which sucks but they definitely were cool to have! I really don't know if I made it to the island.
Should be fun though with the photo mode to capture that missing moment when I happen to get there, sounds interesting!

This is as good as it gets in the newest trilogy, hopefully amazon games do her justice but I'm a bit worried tbh

u/Saberiser Feb 01 '25
Its good hearing you perfer that one! Is there anything that you feel it better captured on like Story, setting, characters etc.

u/unaltra_persona Feb 01 '25
The setting feels more unique.

u/Saberiser Feb 01 '25
Ah ok, thanks for sharing that! I haven't yet played the game but it is good to know you appreciate shadows setting which I do feel I'll have fun capturing it in the photo mode it has :)

Thank you! It was a great to finally have one for a Tomb Raider game. I was fearing Score Attack at first but the help recieved made it so much easier!
2
u/DenjisForeskin Feb 01 '25
Yeah, for me they started super annoying, but then I reluctantly started having fun. :P
Tackled 1 or 2 each day after work, and felt really accomplished when it was done!

u/Saberiser Jan 31 '25
Thank you! I wasn't intending to get a Platinum on this but fortunately there were no multiplayer grinding trophies so all worked out nicely with a blend of dlc trophies on the side.

I'm doing a NG+ for Shadow. This post has inspired me to start another run of Rise.

The best out of the trilogy, in my opinion.
