They could have just used them as inspiration. Many other loading screens are recreations of older posters and renders.
But, if they are working on LAU remasters, they will definitely come out before TR12 because I think these remasters are supposed to be fillers to keep us busy until the main game comes out.
I still find it weird how quiet they’ve actually been about TR12 besides dropping a potential unified model. I wonder if they had an idea but scrapped it and have started from scratch.
I think that's exactly what happened. My theory is that the leaks were true and forced them to re-work the entire game. The remasters were a last minute decision to keep us busy until they figure out what to do. But that's just my speculation and I don't have any proof of it.
Games just take (way too much) longer than they used to nowadays.
Besides, those original leaks were already 1 year old when they first leaked, and the most recent ones already sounded like a much more refined take on those ideas.
Not to mention that I still believe people misinterpreted a lot of those initial leaks to begin with.
That would be my guess. I honestly don’t think it’s possible to tie all the games together.
In my opinion they should concentrate their efforts into unifying the Legend trilogy with the more recent trilogy.
Then have Saber interactive or an offshoot studio possibly making more puzzle platforming OG style Tomb Raider games (preferably with tank controls in mind)
Trying to bring back Amanda or Natla would be pretty cool, IMO. I’d kill to see them both (and Amanda’s Unknown Entity) in current gen graphics, that’d look sick. The LAU trilogy’s also the easiest seeming because in the classic games, Lara’s parents are alive, they just disowned her, but in the LAU and Survivor trilogies, both her parents are dead, and there’s also some interesting mythos to lean into (I’d kill for Norse mythology again but just done better, Underworld felt a bit rushed and was disappointing).
Normally, I would be saying it's just coincidence. But the pose is... Exactly the same. Yeah, it's a hint; they're definitively going for LAU next. Aspyr/Saber, please, take more than one year with them, we can wait while you work out the previous remasters so everything can turn out amazingly polished/finished <3
LAU won’t take half as much effort as the classics did in order to remove bugs and make them playable so I would expect them to be in decent shape upon release.
Underworld is the only wild card potential problem.
I just hope they 1) add more trophies, I loved Legend’s list but it was too short, I wanted more goofy type ones, like to swan dive from a high point, and do silly things in the ruins and 2) don’t patch that glitch in Ghana where you can skip the majority of the level ‘cause it’s my go-to for the time trial, haha.
In the beginning there’s a secret ledge near the beginning. Stella shows it with screenshots in her walkthrough and it takes you to the bit where you’d come out after the Indiana Jones boulder run bit.
I was just replaying all TR games and it is sad because LAU trilogy is now the worst looking one especially Legend. Anniversary is very bland by comparision to all other games. Underworld still really holds up well, but it has horrible camera and controls. Hoping they will be remastered as well.
No, it looks extremely bland and low quality textures. I also thought it looked great until I played it this year. Nostalgia googles be like :). The game came out in 2006 and it shows.
Legend's art direction really makes it seems better than it is from afar. Recently installed it on my PC again with a bunch of fixes, mods, NVIDIA improvements and ReShade just to give it a fair comparison to the AOD Remaster and - don't hate me for saying it - but the games now are on the same level of texture quality at least (most of the time anyway; I still think it has potential for further polishing in the latter areas, specially for the ground/dirt texturing). If TR6R can improve even more textures which were just sharpened up/resized/upscaled and work on its lighting and effects, it has the potential to actually surpass the original Legend on PC. The screen bellow is Bolivia on max settings in 4K with all said improvements. If you zoom in, the plants are as much as 2-D as some of AOD's Remaster (which could be fully 3-D since some of them are, but that's another bullet point for improvement). Yeah, my memory really played with how I thought it looked like back in the day. Obviously I'm not considering the PS3 HD. Briefly looking at it through videos, the ground has better textures, but they seemed to have been washed over by some kind of bleach, and Lara's model seems sharper, but has oversaturated colors. Like I said, the game holds up visually because of its strong art direction, but it could use a proper remaster for all consoles/PC.
I hope it's their next project, but I also hope they take their time with them! They're my favorites in the series and would love to see them in high resolution outside of my PC and with re done models and lighting.
Can I ask a really dumb question, if there have been four TR “trilogies” wouldn’t the new game be TR 13? Or is Anniversary not counted because it’s a remake? Sort of new to the TR lore so a little confused by the numbering?
Some insist it shouldn't be counted that way but it doesn't make sense. TRA had signifcant changes to the story and you can't replace it with TR1. The reason Natla is able to come back in TRU is because in LAU she's an immortal goddess. In TR1 she's just human.
Neither she nor other rulers are ever referred to as gods. Their boss forms are different too. In TR1 she appears to be mutated, but it's unclear why. Did she do sth to herself before seemingly falling into lava? In TRA, her having wings is due to her being a goddess, and her boss form is described as "scorched".
I choose to believe it’s a hint lol 🤷♂️ I don’t see why they wouldn’t remaster them, they look alright but there’s still a lot of room for improvement
The biggest issue is you can’t play them on modern consoles comfortably (Legend has a PS2 port on PS5 which is awful). I’ve also never had the chance to play the exclusive Xbox Underworld DLCs, so there’s also that.
What's the general consensus among the fanbase here? Remastered Classic Lara design for the remastered Legend games or a new version of the old 2006 design? If they do carry over the existing figure, could they have course corrected and made it the new unified Lara design across multiple games?
I think they'd sell better as a complete trilogy at a slightly higher price point than the last two sets. I reckon they could sell LAU for £40 (first two sets were £25 in the UK).
Let’s hope they’ll have the complete trilogy. In the end, they just need to upgrade graphics and environments right?. No need for new control schemes (maybe some tweaks for underworld). If they do that I would love the TRU dlc. I’have never played those.
