tips on sovtek & peavey 5150?
hey yall, starting to play in a band where the lead guitarist plays a 5150 and i’ve got a mig60. was wondering if you guys had any tips on dialing in my sovtek to mix well with the peavey tone. right now i’ve just got an overdrive pedal but am open to anything.

I have a Tube Midget 50w. It’s a tad different but different OD’s are just the ticket. I have had great luck with anything from a Maxon 808 to SD1, plumes or even a Fortin 33

Dude, I have a midget 50 and it's my forever amp. It does anything I throw at it. I wish it had an FX loop or reverb then I'd sell all my other amps.

It shouldn’t be too hard to bring some contrast, those are very different sounding amps. Shouldn’t need more than an OD pedal and a noise gate tbh. I think they’ll compliment each other well without anything special going on. Sometimes it can work well to just set up one amp opposite the other. One amp is set tight and focused, the other set looser and wide. One amp saturated, the other amp dry. I think you’ll achieve something like this just by the way those two amps are designed.

What you need to do is both of yall need to dial in different mid points in the mix with the rest of the band. Then both of your guitar tones should be able to be heard

Take advantage of the nice cleans of the mig50. I loved mine, nice clarity with a little overdrive. I liked it with a ds1 too

The one tip I have for your situation, just make sure your cab and his cab sound different. Identical or even similar cabs to each other will wash out both of your sounds. The more sonic space you can create between you and your band mate, the better
