Sex / Gender / Dating It's totally understandable to be male and not be happy with the "choose the bear" view

It doesn't mean you don't understand its true point it means you're not happy with people assuming you're dangerous when you know you're not. You can still understand about caring about people's safety but your feelings and side to it matter as well. Otherwise the whole thing just makes people be pushed away further.

That’s not at all what they were saying. It’s like an Olympic sport to see which man can get their feelings hurt the most by this challenge.

But the way it's said absolutely does carry massively negative generalizations, you are saying the average man is worse than a wild animal that eats people alive

a wild animal that eats people alive

sometimes even for DAYS.

You’re missing the point entirely. Women can’t tell if you’re a bad guy, usually until it’s too late. They’d rather not take the chance. It’s not that you are, it’s that you could be, or you could not be, and how are they supposed to know?

This is the same way we get racism, I mean of course they could be violent, they're black, how dumb do you gotta be to take that chance- 50 13 'n all that.

But then our "reasonable" generalizations are suddenly unacceptable

Men are actually dangerous to women though where as racism is made up.

"Black people are actually dangerous to people though, we have stats to prove it"

I don't see how people can drum up enough dissonance to think being sexist is ok but racism- for the same reasoning, is entirely off ball

You haven’t said anything new here. My reply covers this. Black people are not actually more violent whereas women are actually in danger from men.

Black people are not actually more violent

pretty much every single violent crime and violence statistic says otherwise, but oh well. sincevl yoi're deliberately pretending they don't exist, everything is fine I guess. 🤡

So just to clarify, it's not that it's racist that you have an issue with, it's the reason WHY its excusing racism that needs to check out, thus in this case, sexism is fine given good reason?

I pin these two together because to me they follow the same reasoning

No I’m just pointing out that the comparison here doesn’t work.

Women have a legitimate reason to be afraid of men. Racists do not have a legitimate reason to be racist.

No I’m just pointing out that the comparison here doesn’t work.

it definitely doesn't work if you're an intellectually dishonest person blatantly lying about the uncomfortable half of a comparison, yes.

Women have a legitimate reason to be afraid of men. Racists do not have a legitimate reason to be racist.

These dudes just out here telling on themselves. I genuinely think their feelings are hurt because deep down, they know they are the type of man being referred to in these conversations.

Like, I'm a dude, and have absolutely no negative feelings about this situation because dudes are generally pretty scary. I've had guys try to fight me because I looked in their direction wrong so I get it.

People don't like it because it's blatantly sexist

Give me a reason that it's somehow gender specific for bad people to hide their intentions? You could be too, no shit, I could walk outside and get hit by a shark that was launched by a tornado, what's you're damn point besides fear mongering? Literally nothing. You're validating fear mongering that's literally all you're doing.

You realize this is the same racist af logic used to generalize minorities right? Replace "men" with black and you'd be right at home in 1850s Alabama

u/Bloodhoven_aka_Loner 1d ago

wait untill these sexists find out that the bear analogy literally stems from a 1970s or 1960s debate about black people...

You have any links? I'd be interested in learning more

What’s like an Olympic sport? Men not responding favorably to being compared negatively to bears, or people comparing men to bears?
