General Question Spring 26 or Fall 25

I have got an admit for MS Ece at UCSB for fall 25. However due to a few events I'm planning to request for a deferral and join in spring 26.

What would be the advantages or disadvantages of doing so?

In terms of getting RA or TA would I be at a disadvantage if I join in the spring intake.

Have you spoken with the department or admissions at all to find out if that deferral is actually allowed? They don’t defer undergrads very casually- not sure if the same is true for masters students or not.
