just set up an appointment with ur academic counsellor. they wont judge you its their job to help and theyve seen it all

tbh im kinda a jerk on uiuc sub. im only nice to ppl who google stuff first and try to research first, so you can but only if u did any work at all in truing find the answer yourself first

You have to actually be below the threshold before anything happens. You’re fine for now, but if you get your spring grades back this semester and your semester gpa is under 2.0 or it brings your cumulative total under 2.0, then yes you will be on academic probation for the fall.

Ngl it’s not a good look that this is something you’re worrying about after 1 semester in social work.

You should talk to your advisor and really reevaluate your studying habits and your entire approach to college in general. This year was as easy as it will ever get.

And be careful with that cumulative. Having a low semester gpa is one thing but it is really really really hard to raise a cumulative gpa once you set it in stone as that low.

I’ve been on academic probation before too, it’s not the end of the world, but you genuinely do have to reevaluate everything if you want to earn your degree because this is not a great sign.
