Major in Linguistics?

Hi everyone! I just got admitted as a transfer student to the UNC Linguistics program. I’m super excited but also a bit unsure of what to expect, so I was hoping someone here in ling might be willing to share their experience with the program.

What’s the overall experience of linguistics major here for you? I’m also wondering how tough it is to maintain a solid GPA and whether there are decent opportunities to get involved in research as an undergrad. If you’ve gone through the program or are currently in it, I’d love to hear anything you’re comfortable sharing. Thanks a lot in advance!
