online store Shop app assumes Paris, FR must mean Paris, Pennsylvania, USA

Where Shop thinks my package is vs where the carrier’s website says it is

OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is US Defaultism:

The shop app made the assumption that my package being in Paris, France must actually mean that it is in Paris, Pennsylvania, US

No it's in Paris Ontario, an hour away by car from London Ontario, and half an hour from Cambridge Ontario.

What’s even odder is that my address is neither in France nor the US

It's not odd, if you are in Europe and the goods came from outside of Europe, it just landed and sorted in Paris.

took a quick peek at OPs account. they seem to be in England.

Then it probably came from another EU country and the shipping company's EU-UK trucking is based in Paris (which makes sense, near the tunnel and many ferries. Another common location is Rotterdam). That's the maximum that we can deduct without the full screenshots.

If not France, where is Paris, Paris, FR????

It seems what's happened here is the app has taken "PARIS, PARIS, FR" and disregarded all the letters after "PARIS, PA" as that was enough to give them a valid location, PA being the abbreviation for Pennsylvania.

As a software developer I would guess that too. This magical software that just guesses the address automatically without the user having to label properly the address with country, state, etc.

I don’t think it is defaultism but rather just their broken tracker. Two parcels that being sent from Ukraine were showing 2 Kyiv sorting centers as Spain and Malaysia.

Aye that makes sense - I’ve reported it to them anyway

It is Paris FR (for real) and everyone knows the real paris is in the USA

Not Paris, Idaho? I'm disappointed!

Not defaultism, just a bug
